Reasons for sweating & B.O smell??

Hiya. I seem to sweat a lot especially when out and end up smelling of B.O. It is so frustrating because i shower everday so can't understand the smell. My clothes are clean on everday too.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to tackle this embarassing problem. I have tried strong anti-perspirents and they don't seem to work.

maybe it could be a hormonal thing, i think if u go the docs they may be able to help

sometimes due to diet too, and also I have found that the material in certain tops I wear increase the amount I sweat, if that makes sense. I would pop along to the gp and ask their advice though, it will make you feel a lot better

this happened to my daughter (13) a while back, which we assumed was puberty/hormones etc.

we finally worked out that altho she was showering twice a day, and having fressh clothes, she still seemed to smell, and by manner of detuction, she wasn;t rinsing the soap off properly under her arms, causing stickiness and sweatyness and then leading to smells!

this may be you???? not suggesting at all that you aren;t washing properly, more that you are, only too well and too soapy and then not rinsing it quite all away....

altho, it may indeed be hormone related.....or maybe you aren't suited to your enti-persperent?

When you say hormone related, do you mean like an imbalance? if so what can i take for it?

I use this evil stuff called Driclor, which you use like an anti-perspirant but at night. It itches like a bee-atch, but it really does the trick - if I remember rightly, it's supposed to form some sort of gel in your sweat glands to block them, which doesn't sound very healthy, I guess, but for me it's really worth it because I so hate being smelly.

Thanks. i have heard of driclor but like you say, it stings like mad which ahs put me off buying it.

I find I'm more sensitive to it some times than others - I know sensitivity to pain fluctuates through your cycle so it could be worth trying at different times in the month? And not shaving for a few days beforehand definitely helps (it says 24 hours I think, but leaving it much longer than that is better if you can bear it). Also, if I can get it on and leave it even just for few hours before I have to wash it off, it's better than nothing.

TooTicky · 07/03/2008 13:12

I have this problem too. I would definitely avoid anti-perspirants because they are really bad for you - aluminium-free deodorants are better.
Sometimers I sweat a lot when bf.
A friend of mine swears by a few drops of lemongrass oil mixed into a base oil.

yorkshirepudding, you may be right about the washing powder theory. what washing powder is the best to combat sweaty clothes??

Eco products can be very good! I use Clearspring liquid and it's excellent.
