Any breast changes should be reported to your GP and let them take it from there 💐

@Bex4567
I have this every month, it's my left breast and painful to kind of touch and press, it is always around 2 weeks before period and not every month. I've pressed and prodded and can't feel any lumps.

It's funny you mention the bad back because I also have an upper spine condition and wonder if it's connected

Bex4567 · 10/10/2023 16:41

Thankyou for the reply...yeah it seems to be after ovulation onwards till period and yet when my period is done I ovulate like a week later so don't get much let up lol...did u go to gp about it ?

It is perfectly normal to have one breast a little bigger than the other. For most, it will be the left breast.

Breast pain is rarely indicative of anything sinister. It could be hormone related, so yes, wait for a month/your period, and if it's still sore, go see a GP.

Sorry Bex I hope I didn't sound unsupportive. That's good you have a GP appt. You can then monitor it over the next weeks. Mention everything you've said here.

I've had two visits to the Breast clinic. One was a cyst and the other was an indentation which was caused by a deep cyst which couldn't be felt.

The consultant said 9 out of 10 lumps are benign but to be breast aware and they are happy to check anything the GPS refer to them.

It is worrying whenever you spot something that you're wondering about but you are doing the right thing.

HughCanoe · 10/10/2023 22:20

I understand - I did a fair bit of cyst prodding myself!

Blinky21 · 11/10/2023 09:35

Is it your back? I have the same at the moment due to straining my chest wall and back from coughing. It's tender to touch, heavy and sometimes really painful. Had an x ray and was all good so treating as a strain, but best to get it checked

Bex4567 · 11/10/2023 09:45

What sore boob from your back u mean

OP posts:
Bex4567 · 11/10/2023 12:12

Anyone else had this

OP posts:
Hbh17 · 11/10/2023 12:23

Had this "issue" for probably 10+ years. Never occurred to me to see a doctor.
It is much less noticeable now that I no longer have periods, so presumably hormonal.

Bex4567 · 11/10/2023 13:48

Did u have it just in 1 breast

OP posts:
Bex4567 · 12/10/2023 11:17

It seems to be sort of intermittent...its not to bed today still sore to press sometimes tho ..ob I'm pressing it all yhw time so that prob dosnt help lol

itsallfunand · 21/10/2023 17:58

@Bex4567 have you found out what it is. I have this. It's not all the time and just on left breast when pressed and seems to be certain times of the month but been going on for months. Feel like it's too minor to see Gp but it's starting to concern me

Bex4567 · 21/10/2023 20:09

Mine seem to go after my period started

OP posts:
itsallfunand · 21/10/2023 20:11

Bex4567 · 21/10/2023 20:13

This advice is dangerous. The breast pain was the only symptom my friend had before her breast cancer diagnosis. Pain/painful lumps CAN be cancer.
If anything worries you - get checked.

No, my words are not dangerous.

If I would have said breast pain is NEVER indicative of breast cancer then yes, that would be dangerous. But I did not say that.

As someone currently dealing with breast cancer, and having had a myriad of breast issues over the past thirty three years, the various GPs, not to mention consultants (including the oncoplastic surgeon I am currently under the care of), MDTs and radiologists I have seen, have all said that breast pain is rarely indicative of breast cancer*. However, in some cases, it can be, and why any and all issues with one’s breast, particularly a lump, should be investigated immediately.

I hope this clarifies things.

*Quite a few of the specialist breast cancer websites say this too.

TellySavalashairbrush · 06/04/2024 18:17

The NHS website does state that breast pain alone is rarely indicative of cancer. I get pain in one breast for a time every month. Always a good idea to get things checked by your GP and you’ve already booked an appointment which is good.
