Anyone help with blood results- bone, liver and kidney results low

I'm going to speak to gp on Monday, but just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I'm being investigated for a possible autoimmune condition, so far results not really showing much. I've just had these blood results back, gp not concerned but I have a few questions

Serum calcium 2.17 (2.2-2.6)
Serum inorganic phosphate 0.83 (0.8-1.5)
Serum albumin 36 (36-48)
Serum total protein 64 (65-82)
Serum bicarbonate 22 (24-32)
Serum urea 3.2 (3-7.6)
Serum creatinine 55 (55-87)

Everything just seems slightly under or on the lower end of normal. They are all lower than they were in February also.

Would these results cause any symptoms or are they too borderline to really affect you?

Are they diet related? What would help to raise them, do I need to even bother?

Has anyone had similar? Did your results point to any issues?

Thank you!

Calcium slightly low. No concern with urea or creatinine. Albumin and phosphate lower limit of normal - not really concerning.
So main thing slightly low Ca.
Are you on meds? Good diet? What are your symptoms?

Fipfop · 06/10/2023 19:53

I do eat well, however I'm breastfeeding a dairy allergy baby. I take a calcium supplement but maybe need to look at calcium intake. Was just surprised how many were on low end of normal, but they're ok really?

Does that mean you are avoiding dairy yourself?
I'm not sure why your calcium is low and whether that's all down to diet or needs further blood tests tbh.
The offered seem ok.
Are you on any meds?

The others

Greybeardy · 06/10/2023 20:09

Your calcium’s slightly low because your albumin’s on the low end of normal. The corrected calcium is normal. Your GP will be able to explain the results properly.

Fipfop · 06/10/2023 20:12

Yes no dairy for me either. I'll check it all out with the gp next week. Thanks for your help!

@Greybeardy can I increase my albumin through diet?

OP posts:

It’s at the low end of the normal range, not low. Your GP will be able to interpret the results in the context of your symptoms/history/the rest of the bloods/trends. No one on MN can tell you if there’s a problem or what needs doing about it.

Fipfop · 06/10/2023 20:42

Thanks for your help. I'll get onto the gp next week!

How do we know if it's corrected Ca or not - good point sort of ireaumed it was adjusted but am not used to reading from GP source the hospital results gives the two.

It says corrected if it’s corrected.

Fipfop · 07/10/2023 10:26

The corrected was just within normal range, 2.25 (2.2-2.6).

The corrected calcium is the one you should be interested in and it is normal.

Your albumin is also normal. You can't change it with diet, even if you are on the verge of starvation our bodies are incredibly effective at using whatever you are eating to keep it normal. Yours is normal.

Low albumin is usually only seen in very unwell people with organ failure, severe sepsis or advanced cancer where there is massive inflammation going on.

Your GP would not be concerned by these results.

Fipfop · 07/10/2023 10:52

Fantastic thanks for everyone's help. To be honest I was hoping there was going to be a simple explanation for my symptoms through these results that I could just fix by diet. But obviously not found the answer yet!

Fipfop · 10/12/2023 15:17

Said that they weren't concerned at all. Still trying to work out what's causing all of my symptoms!

What's nafld?

Non alcoholic fatty liver disease

Sometimes people have it without knowing - - sometimes its discovered when people are looking for other things

Thanks, definitely worth looking at!
