Acupuncture for Bunion, does it help?

I have a bunion, recently managed to get my insoles renewed, they were really painful before as my insoles had flattened as they were a few years old. With the new insoles the pain has improved. Still there is mild pain sometimes. I have to wear the insoles all the time pretty much, so that it can provide the support, it's a bit like glasses. Insoles are for flat/fallen arches.

Podiatrist recommended acupuncture for pain and I have my appointment booked. I just wanted to know if anyone has tried this, am I just wasting my time or should I go to the appointment? the pain is much better but ofcourse it is still there, if I don't wear the insoles enough I can feel the pain, even if I do wear the insoles at night the bunion does hurt. The bunion is only on one foot Thanks all.

I am presuming your podiatrist is private. Acupuncture is not a recognised treatment for bunions. Bunions are also not usually painful except for the pressure from footwear. Do you actually have a different condition called hallux rigidus? That can be painful, and can be surgically treated (as can a bunion).

Thanks its on the nhs. He said bunion. I looked up hallus rigidus and that means stiff big toe, which doesn't look like what I have. bunion is much better now pain wise. But if I do walk bear foot there isn't much support so then it can hurt in the evening on the bunion.
