Toddler unwell, do I need a doctor or a dentist?

DD 2.7, complained of tummy ache Tuesday afternoon and was abruptly sick - lovely projectile everywhere. Poor little scrap

Was very sleepy and clingy and went to sleep for an hour or so in afternoon. Didn't want any tea and was a bit sick again when she tried to drink water.

Slept very well that night and seemed okay Wednesday but very spaced out. Ate normally.

Today was fine this morning, full of beans and ate loads of breakfast. Fine at pre-school, fine at lunch but by mid-afternoon very spaced out and tired again and had a sleep. Doesn't want any tea again, quite hot and red cheeked.

Is 2.7 too late for second molars to come through? I can't get her to open her mouth wide enough to look as she is very tearful and clingy, but I don't think she has a full set of baby teeth.

She is complaining that her teeth hurt - we are not registered at a dentist yet. Would your first point of call be the doctor or the dentist? I keep being about to ring for an appt and then she perks up and seems fine and eats again - which makes me think maybe it's teething?

Any advice gratefully recieved. I can see that teething would cause the red cheeks and to make her a bit hot and clingy, but would it make her sleepy and sick too?

Ahhhhh, that's very interesting...how old is your DS? My googling seemed to suggest that second molars came in about 2 years old but I guess some children could get them later?

I hate taking the girls to the doctors if they're not too unwell as they always seem to pick up more bugs there than they went in with!

Dd's did'nt come through until she was 3.

Agree with not taking her to doctors, i think we brought something nasty home yesterday as dd now has a virus

Poor ds littlelapin. Is anything helping?

Marne that's interesting that DD's didn't come through until nearly 3...

Its always a 'mare when it gets towards the weekend and you need to make that doctor/no doctor decision or risk sicky toddler all weekend

Slapped cheek virus is going round ATM where i live.

Agggghhh..panicking a little now..what if it's that? God, I hate it when my DC's get ill...

We're oop North - where are you 3littlefrogs? Had a quick look at the symptoms of the virus, seems like it could easily be confused with lots of other illnesses..

I am in london. I only know about this because one of mine is poorly with something ATM and another mum told me that slapped cheek was going round nursery and reception. However, i am sure dd doesn't have it because her cheeks are very pale. She is just headachy and sick.

I'm hoping it is teeth..she was much better again this morning and we compared notes with another mum at their toddler group whose DS is same age.

He is also cracking his molars through..she's been more specific today that the pain is in teeth and spent most of the morning with finger stuffed in mouth..

Why do you get compelled to keep touching the sore bit on a tooth? I do the same and it hurts just as much every time!
