What could be causing these many weird neurological symptoms!

I currently have a constant tingling sensation in my face, throat and nose mainly but also arms and legs to. I keep getting full body tingles as well, as if I suddenly get goosebumps out of nowhere. I keep getting a weird sensation of heat, almost like warm water, on the top of my left foot which passes after a few seconds but is happening probably a few times a hour. I also feel very itchy but not in the normal sense, it's like a nerve thing. I keep getting odd sensations of something being inside my nose and weirdly between my lower labia too but there's nothing there.
I am also getting internal tremors every night and have been for a while, I don't normally notice them until I stop doing stuff and try to relax and suddenly there's this internal vibration/shaking. It's so odd. I also have joint pain in my fingers and my right knee. Regular palpitations. Muscle twitches. Feeling generally quite spaced out even my vision seems odd. Also been having long term problems with swallowing food, where it goes up and gets stuck behind my nasal cavity instead of going down. Waiting for results of a barium swallow. No idea what's going on but can't get a gp appointment till next Thurs 😣 I do have low iron but it's at 17 which is up from 9 so is improving with supplements so I don't think it's related to that. I'm wondering if it's perimenopause or something more sinister like MS. Although I've had some problems with a trapped nerve in my arms a few months back where it went sort of dead so the gp assessed for MS and said it was unlikely. I don't know whether to call back and ask for urgent appointment as I feel really weird.

I had very similar to you Op. After lots of tests I was diagnosed with low B12 and vit D. I had no idea that being low in them could cause so many problems.

I had all manner of neurological shit for a year post covid and post vaccine (had covid almost straight after vaccine number 4)

It came on about 5 days after- I had a weak leg, a weird kind of spacey light headedness, pins and needles in feet multiple times a day, lower leg muscle twitching, a finger that buzzed and vibrated every now and then, occasional feelings like I had a battery on in my lower legs, very sore and sometimes blurry eyes, a feeling like I had burning on my forehead , stick neck where it meets skull and headaches in back of head- gradually over a year it has all massively reduced. I had multiple bloods, a neck scan , saw a neurologist. Neurologist said almost straightaway she had seen lots of this , people automatically think MS or worse but it is rarely the case, especially if it's very intermittent , viruses can indeed cause these things as can deficiencies and apparently covid has given many of us mineral and vitamin deficiencies

No idea what you may have, OP. Just wanted to say that I have MS and my experience of it is quite different to what you have been experiencing. MS can affect all sorts of things but it typically doesn't dance around your body the way this seems to be happening to you. E.g. you might get tingling and numbness in your left foot that appears gradually, worsens over a few weeks and then gradually subsides, entirely or partially. I'm hoping this may be reassuring.

Feel a bit like this with long covid … have you had it recently?

SavetheNHS · 09/10/2023 21:28

I was going to suggest Long Covid too. There have been lots of reports of internal tremors/vibrations in long covid, I used to have them. LC can cause lots of strange neurological symptoms like you describe and more. I've had the internal vibrations and also flushes, heart palpitations, random nerve pain, sensitivity to sounds, dizziness, nausea, brain fog, memory and processing issues, sore eyes etc etc.
If you've ever had covid (even if it was asymptomatic) you can get long COVID.
Hope you find answers and feel better soon.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/10/2023 22:16

@SavetheNHS - yep, it really can be very frightening and it's not consistent. One day your leg feels weird and heavy and you get pins and needles a few times, next day you have a cracking headache and feel dizzy. So if you go to the doctor it's very difficult to pinpoint, ooh today I've got xyz, yesterday I had xyz etc- and unless you have vit deficiencies it doesn't show up on blood tests- even on inflammation

May not be any help but a friend had some of the symptoms and her diabetes was not controlled well. The burning hot feeling on her legs and eye issues.
