Handwash for contact dermatitis

Can anyone recommend something for washing my hands while I have contact dermatitis?

I'm not sure exactly what is causing it, but normal hand wash certainly isn't helping it, and my hands are so dry despite me using hand cream previously, and now using Fifty:50 as prescribed by the pharmacist (which doesn't appear to be making much difference)

Is there something more natural that anyone can recommend?

Thanks

Maybe something like dermol or an aqueous cream as a soap substitute would help.

Thank you. I'll check those out.

Use rubber gloves to minimize the amount you need to wash your hands at all.

When you do need to wash them, make sure your hands are wet before using soap or handwash.

More natural? Possibly. Actual bar soap tends to be better than handwash. If you really want a handwash then pick one that is SLS-free which often tends to be 'organic' type brands eg Neals Yard or stuff marketed for kids with ezcema ag Childs Farm.

Or you can just use your 50:50 to wash with as a soap substitute. It feels a bit weird as it doesn't foam like you are used to but it does work. Most prescribed emollients can be used as soap substitutes.

My GP told me to use emulsifying ointment when I had bad eczema on my hands https://www.amazon.co.uk/EMULSIFYING-Emulsifying-Ointment/dp/B004UPZLOQ

If you think it might be a bit infected - Dermol 500 is good as it’s anti microbial.

I’d be wary about trying anything that might cause further inflammation if you’ve got lots of open skin. You could try an olive oil soap or something like that - but I’d want to make sure I was avoiding any perfume or essential oils.

Avoid SLS - sodium laureate sulfate (sp?). I had awful dermatitis on my hands for years and would go through tubs of E45 like there's no tomorrow. After I started using sls-free handwash it cleared within days. It was wonderful to be able to use my hands without the skin cracking and bleeding. Never had a problem since.
