Intimate itching driving me to insanity

I've had if for over a year.

It's on the mon pubis, bikini line areas.

I will just be reading, maybe even in mid sentence and BANG, it's like I've got a sworn of ants down there

An attack lasts for about an hour and then vanishes, then boom, there it is again. It's sudden and horrific. Not linked to anything particularly because it can be mid day, evening, morning, whenever

It wakes me up at night. I am utterly miserable.

I have tried various thrush treatments and nothing has worked. Although I've never had any discharge or any other symptoms, I treated myself for it just in case

I've tried eczema creams. They don't work either

The skin is not dry and looks normal. Haven't got a bloody clue what it is but it has started to go a lighter colour in the itchy areas somewhat

Any ideas would be a God send, as I've used Eurocrux I think it's called?! It's a cream to stop and prevent itching but it doesn't even work Sad

GP has referred me to gynae but that's it

If gynae don't find anything as for a neuro referral, it might be nerve pain. Are you menopausal?

bedorbrowse · 03/10/2023 16:05

Thank you, never considered a nerve issue as it isn't sore or painful? Just itches like mad

I am 25 so I dont think so. But periods have become 'odd' in the last 6 months. One will be 70 days! The next 30, and then 45... all very odd but GP has referred to Gynae

( fluctuating hormone levels can thin the skin, particularly in intimate areas, and cause itching)

KvotheTheBloodless · 03/10/2023 16:06

If your periods are out of whack that could indicate a gynae issue. Has the GP sent you for bloods to check hormone levels?

Yes, bloods came back normal

Have you tried a steroid cream called Betnovate?

WillWeSeeTheSunAgain · 04/10/2023 08:08

Poor you, maybe try eumovate (over the counter) and an antihistamine at night? Take one that makes you a bit sleepy so that you can get some sleep from the itching!

OnAFrolicOfMyOwn · 04/10/2023 08:11

Vagisil is more effective than Eurax as it contains lidocaine.

MiniJellyBeans · 04/10/2023 08:15

If you have noticed paler patches, one possibility is an autoimmune skin condition called lichen sclerosus; it's often missed or misdiagnosed. Might be worth a google.

SophieJo · 04/10/2023 20:08

Sounds like Lichen Sclerosis. Google it and see if you have the symptoms as severe itching is one of them.

DustyMaiden · 04/10/2023 20:11

Vagisil worked for me. Was menopause related.
