Hello

Posting on here to see if anyone's had similar symptoms.

For the last 10 days I've had what I can only describe as a cool-feeling mouth and throat.
I've googled (yep, I know) and it's been suggested that it might be a form of GERD or possibly even a post covid symptom. I've had it non-stop for those 10 days, it hasn't subsided at all. Otherwise feel fairly well apart from a bit of low-level sniffing and nose blowing, and very occasional lightheadedness.

I'm a bit reluctant to go to the doctor, as I'll have to wait several weeks for an appointment and then they'll likely not diagnose anything. Has anyone had similar and established what it actually is?

I get this, definitely silent reflux. I have a hiatus hernia so I'm prone to it unfortunately.

Ah ok, thank you.
Are you able to take anything for it?

Have you tried Gaviscon? I have reflux and that's what it feels like. Use the double action one and see if that makes a difference.

If you are snotty, it might also be post-nasal drip (which I also have, unfortunately).

There's also something called burning mouth syndrome that tends to happen in menopausal women. Generally treated with nerve pain medication like amiltryptiline.

I have mainly been using just the standard Gaviscon liquid so I'll have a look for the double action version. Thanks.

Ah ok. I'm peri-menopausal, so I guess could be a possibility. Thanks.
