has anyone had a face to face Preop appointment recently? If so, did they insist on weighing you, or did the just ask your weight?

I had one last week and they weighed me on their scales.

I had an online pre-op last year and thought I'd got away with it, but was weighed day of the op.

An accurate weight is important to calculate some drug doses (including some anaesthetic drugs), plan whether DVT prevention is needed, predict whether some post-op complications are likely/how long a stay in hospital might be needed.

Yep, well, within a pound or 2. I know they need to know, but I really don't like other people weighing me.

Weighed naked at home on ancient scales and clothed on hospital scales, oddly heavier at home though!

What's your reasoning for trying to avoid it? You can just ask not to be told if you don't want to know. But we do need an accurate weight as our drugs are weight based. We will often take patients words for it but if you under estimate it and we are using the intravenous anaesthetic to keep you asleep we will be underdosing your anaesthetic

I had one a few weeks ago, I was weighed.

DD was weighed age 4. It’s so they can calculate the anaesthetic.
