Misophonia

It took me years to find out that there is a definition of what I had been experiencing for years - misophonia! As a child my eyes used to water when people would sing on stage etc (not emotionally)and this got worse as I grew up.

This now happens when people are eating nearby, chewing their nails, drinking liquids, and the WORST is that I am really affected by some music. What I would class as cheesy music, ballads, any sad music that plays around me I have to move out of the room.

Does anyone have any coping mechanisms they could recommend? Thank you.

Sadly not. Hum, talk, a loud lala that makes people jump, ear defenders, move away is only the things you can do really.

Ear plugs, having ear buds in and listening to my own music, focusing on my own breathing.
