I have had several. They are very quick and not in any way painful.
Sometimes they do them "with contrast".
If that is the case they will fit a cannula first. Then introduce a dye half way through. The dye produces a warm sensation in your abdomen very briefly. All over in under 15 minutes.

As pp says, very straightforward and quick. I had to answer some basic health questions first and sign a form. I wore simple elasticated clothing in case metal was an issue/ I had to remove anything but I didn’t. Afterwards they took a couple of weeks before radiologist had reviewed and sent back to the consultant that referred me, but I guess that will depend on what you’re getting it for and your local situation.

It’s pretty straightforward and fairly quick - if you’re having it ‘with contrast’ it can feel as if you’re wetting yourself. Don’t worry - you’re not! Very pleased the imaging team warned me about that!! 😆

Thanks guys

I have abnormal / elevated ca125 - & they dont know why.
Theyve done a transvaginal scan to rule out ovarian cancer which was fine

Sadly i had an early miscarriage last month - had bad pain above my belly button.
Gynae told me - bad pain there - wouldnt be related to miscarriage...

So yeah.. ct abdomen scan due

I had glandular fever last year.
Never fully recovered.
Polyps removed from my bowel this yr - thankfully biopsies were ok

That's why I had one. Raised CA125, ultrasound scan fine, CT scan fine.
Saw Gynae last week and she says CA125 is raised for so many things, anything abdominal raises it, common in IBS.
It's only really useful for monitoring patients who have previous history of ovarian cancer.

Just figure that whilst things like pancreatic cancer isnt common in under 40s but not unheard of - good to get stuff like that ruled out - because 4 some people raised ca125 can be that
