8yo tooth exposed to the roots??

Adult teeth in DS mouth are very crowded. Now he's lost a chunk of gum in front of one of his bottom front incisors -- literally pushed to edge of his gums by other teeth, I guess. I can almost see the roots.

Anyone else's child had similar? Might the gum grow back? We see dentist tomorrow, but dental receptionist thought there was nothing dentist could do to help. Will ds lose the tooth?

found out what it's called -- anterior crossbite. 80 quid to see an orthodontist privately, ouch.

Sorry no replies to your post Alardi...not sure If I have had any experience, just that i am such a worrier of dc's teeth.....so I understand your concern..all I could suggest is check with your dentist before you resort to any private treatment. DD may have this same problem but dentist told me it was just the way her gums where and her roots where so not showing and it was all in my head...in the nicest possible way off course...I know he meant well, and did not mean to offend, so trhink I was wanting DD to have gums that where rounderd rather than in a V shape...hope this makes sense.

yes make sense, Jso. We had an emergency appointment with dentist on Thursday, and although he said it was okay for now -- not as close to roots as I thought- he said it needed sorting out soon/ish. Friday the dental surgery rang back to say that wait on NHS to even get an orthadontist consultation is 18 months! All the websites I read say that anterior crossbite is something best treated sooner rather than later, so we are opting for the private consultation (still a 1-2 month wait just to get a consultation).

The websites also say it's something that can be fixed relatively easily (a small brace for a few months).

The only known risk factor for anterior crossbite is small jaw for age, so not much I could have done to prevent it, which is some type of comfort.

Better picture here. Sorry to babble, nice that someone expressed an interest!
