Is it possible to reverse gum erosion caused by incorrect use of an electric toothbrush?

So - I never knew that the right way to brush using an electric toothbrush is just to - hold it against each tooth for a few seconds! I had absolutely no idea. For years I have been using a scrubbing motion like with a normal toothbrush.

I was aghast to be told by my dentist that I've caused gum erosion - my scores top and bottom are all 2 if that means anything?

Obviously I will change my technique immediately but can I get a better score than 2?

Also any recommendations for which IO model to buy would be appreciated! The choice is overwhelming! Thank you.

I got told similar a few months ago, that I was brushing too hard. My dentist said its irreversible but put a protective, white sealant thing at my gum line to further protect them.

Hmm I will mention that next time. Sad to hear it is irreversible.

Yes, I did this and now no longer use an electric brush. My teeth are REALLY sensitive

I had the wrong technique for years. I think dentist or hygienist should explain how they work when first recommending. There. Isn’t much on the instructions and I never thought to look it up.

An actual dentist might correct me but I think the numbers go from 0-4 (0 being the "best") so I would say 2 isn't that bad?

Having researched the iO there isn't much in it.
I got a 5 orr 6 the 9s just had different tooth brushing setting (diamond clean, super clean, mega fancy clean etc.)

I just always use the first setting so saved myself a few hundred.

Wait for black Friday and by an older model.

Yes, get an Emmi-Dent ultrasound toothbrush. They work by using ultrasound rather than friction. I have very sensitive gums which used to bleed, but I stopped this completely by using only the Emmi-Dent instead of my Phillips Sonicare.

You can order them from Germany. They're not cheap, but I'm 53 and my dentist told me, at my last checkup, that I have no gum disease and that they're in very good nick. This toothbrush also whitens your teeth as it's so good at cleaning them. You do just hold it against the teeth and gums. I've been using these for years and can't recommend them enough.
