Stinging when pee'ing, MSU comes back negative

DD aged 7 is having the above problems, MSU came back negative, no other symptoms apart from the stinging, which seems to ease when we increase her fluids. Now I'm thinking she may have cystitus and this is the 3rd time in 6 weeks that she's complained of this. What else can I do for her?

When you say it came up negative, was it sent away to the lab to be cultured? That is the only way to know if she has a urine infection.

In the meantime try cranberry juice, and lots to drink. Ice lollies cna increase fluid and help wtih temperateure if she has that also. Barley water (made by boiling pearl barley and straining) is also quite good for cystitis - but less palatable.

Thanks,Yes, it was sent of for microscopy, culture and sensitivity. Will try her with cranberry juice. I am a little concerned as it keeps coming back.

this happened to me if I ate or drank too much sugar- pineapples made it particularly bad.

Hi
My dd aged 4 has had lots of urine infections. This morning I took her AGAIN to the gp's as she complained of her moo moo being hot and not making it in time to the toilet. Problem with her age is that she doesn't really have the language skills which makes it difficult.
Her urine showed a slight infection. she only had one about 3-4wks ago, with really vague symptoms. They're sending a sample to the lab for proper anaylsis.
GP said its important to catch it quick before it scars the kidneys and to drop off a sample before 11am if I suspect she has an infection.
I asked her if theres anything to help avoid this she didn't really have any suggestions other than drink more and go to the loo more (DD can go for ages without weeing.) So I will be bribing her with sweets and the like!
I too am concerned at the repeat infections and worry but gp says its nothing to worry about yet

reading vwvic's reply maybe sweets is a bad idea! But its interesting that food could agravate it.
