Hi,
So a couple of months ago, I replaced an older Sinocare blood glucose monitor.
Every now and again, I take a reading one after the other off a different finger - just to check it’s roughly the same.
Today, I took one of each hand and the right was 8.6 and the left 7.0.
I thought that such a big difference was a bit dodgy so I emailed the company.
This was their reply…
‘Regarding the accuracy issue, The distribution of blood vessels and nerves is not identical from one finger to another, so the peripheral circulation and blood pressure in the fingers may vary, which will make the blood glucose test results different. (7.0 → 8.6)
To verify if the tester is reliable, I suggest you go to the local hospital, get the Sinocare result first, then make the blood test after 2 minutes. Finally, compare the difference between the blood test result and Sinocare result. If the difference is less than 15%, then the Sinocare tester is reliable.’
Am I right in thinking that difference isn’t normal?
I really can’t be bothered finding somewhere to test my blood in a medical setting, just to test my personal tester and honestly think I’ll be refused. You can’t even get a blood test at our local Gp surgery!
Anyone think this is a normal difference? I’ve done a few times before today and the difference has never been that much, although it has been signifiant, in that it’s much higher than the normal maximum of 7.
