Surgery

Hi all, I'm due surgery next Tuesday to have my gallbladder removed. The food I'm currently eating, lots of fruit! Has given me thrush and I find it notoriously difficult to get rid of. Im worried they'll cancel my surgery if I have thrush so was planning on taking fluconazole. I wasn't sure what day would be best to take it so there's no chance of it returning before the surgery and if the medicine could cause an issue for the surgery on terms of any reactions physically or to any medications they may use.

Thanks in advance!

Either phone the pre op dept or speak to a pharmacists rather than rely on random people on the internet.
I hope surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

To be fair it didn't occur to me about pharmacists until after id already posted. Whilst I appreciate that people I don't know on the Internet might not have the answer there are people on here who are Drs, nurses, pharmacists etc or who might have gone through the same. Furthermore, the whole point of this website is to ask random strangers on the Internet things so thank you for your monumentally unhelpful and judgemental reply. Have a good day.

Except @SmokeMeAKipperIllBeBackForBreakfast was helpful to you Confused
Call the person who did your pre-op, or the department doing the procedure. Or see a pharmacist.

And don't be so rude when soliciting advice in the future.

Autumnlily14 · 07/09/2023 08:32

@HRTadvicepls I don't see how what I said was rude as that IS the point of this website. I will grant you that the first part of their message is helpful and I only came to the realisation of calling the pharmacist after I had already posted which I mentioned above. I just don't appreciate people on my post or others saying 'dont ask strangers on the Internet' because that is what everyone on here is doing and they're not looking for someone to judge them for doing so. So, thank you @SmokeMeAKipperIllBeBackForBreakfast for the first part of your message.

Sure. "thank you for your monumentally unhelpful and judgemental reply". Absolutely not rude at all Hmm

Autumnlily14 · 07/09/2023 22:13

And it's not rude to tell someone to not ask strangers for advice on a forum dedicated to that?

OP posts:
HRTadvicepls · 07/09/2023 22:17

No? In this case regarding a specific query about your health condition/medication/surgery, an open forum where you have absolutely no idea if anyone is who they say they are and are in anyway qualified to provide such advice then what @SmokeMeAKipperIllBeBackForBreakfast was absolutely correct.

Have you checked? Are you still ok to go ahead?

Autumnlily14 · 08/09/2023 08:13

I'm going to check just before my surgery once/if the infection has cleared. I'm not stupid enough to take what people are telling me at face value but it is helpful for reassurance when I'm feeling anxious about it. I know my response came off as harsh but when you're seeking reassurance so you're not so worried and all you get in return is 'dont ask strangers' and criticism it's not very helpful
