Cartiva implant for hallux limitus

I have hallux limitus in my right toe and have only around 15% range of movement left. It's painful sometimes when I'm walking and I feel myself turning my foot out to avoid it bending.

I've been looking into the cartiva implant and wondered if anyone has had it done or knows anyone that has? What was the procedure like, was it a success, etc? I've already tried the orthotic inserts in my shoes which are fine but they really only address the pain. I'm not really bothered about the pain tbh, that's bearable. It's more about getting the movement back. There's quite a few exercises I can't do in the gym, and I can't wear heels of any sort, even a low one. I'm fed up wearing trainers!

I had the cartiva implant surgery on both big toes in 2017
It was a day operation, home the same evening. Post operative was very painful and I was given strong pain relief. It took around six months to feel comfortable again, and six years on I’m glad I had it done. However, it was not 100% successful in that I’ve not got full movement back in my toes and can only wear either flat shoes or a small heel. But I have no pain now, so it’s a win in my eyes. Hth

That's good to know, thank you. For me it's not really the pain that's the issue but the range of movement. I suppose I just need to speak to the surgeon and make the decision what to do!
