Should I go to minor injuries (photo)

So I was being a bit clumsy and somehow managed to slam the corner of the oven door onto the top of my foot. There was a crunch which made me feel a bit 🤮 and I looked down and there was immediate swelling. I’ve sat with my foot raised and an ice pack for an hour. The swelling has reduced. Im hoping for a beach day out tomorrow. The area hurts and I can bare weight with a bit of a wobble. Has anyone experienced anything similar? If it was a broken bone would it still be on to just carry on?

not Sure where you’ve injured is it the right foot near the ankle? If so keep elevating and icing and take some ibuprofen if you can unlikely to have had enough force to break a bone but could have injured soft tissue

It’s the top right of my right foot. It’s the crunching noise it made that’s made me wonder if something may have broken but googling I’m not sure if there is a bone there?

Wait till morning and re-assess it. The 12/24 hour wait at hospital would be last resort.

Thank you. That was my thinking too. Last place I’d like to be on a sat night 🙈

In our area you would call 111 and they would book you an X-ray at minor injuries if they think you need one

Honestly I would go to minor injuries, I was in and out with a crushed big toe within two hours. They are normally very quick so you absolutely don’t need a&e. It’s possible you could have broken it, I dropped a heavy object on my foot but luckily it only smashed the bone in my toe rather than foot but I still needed a boot and crutches and it was agony. I did somehow leave it two days before going to minor injuries which I regret as the swelling made it 10x more painful.

There wont be a huge amount they can do tonight I expect. I'd ice and dose up on painkillers tonight and see how it is in the morning. If you do need to go go early before the fottball and rugby injuries turn up.

greenacrylicpaint · 02/09/2023 19:50

if you have a minor injuries that does x-rays go there.
other than that follow RICE

tomorrow from 10ish it's football/rugby injuries...

RosesAndHellebores · 02/09/2023 19:55

I'd see how painful it is overnight and if the pain keeps you awake, head off to A&E at about 5 or 6am when the drunks have largely been dealt with.

Changing the subject but when I saw the first picture I initially thought the pattern was blood.

It looks as though you will have a dreadful bruise. I hope you have an OK night and isn't too serious.

Thanks all! Will re assess in the morning
