I run between 15 and 16 miles a week. In 3 runs. Sometimes more.

I wanted to not put a load of weight back on again but was fed up with dieting. It makes me feel good. Gives me a sense of acheivment. And it's something that is MINE, all mine!

Threadworm · 02/03/2008 14:47

That's just how I feel about running Orm.

Miggsie · 02/03/2008 14:49

Walk and a tiny bit of running 5 times a week for 30 mins due to DH buying me a running machine and practically blackmailing me into using it.
Have lost weight so can't complain.

Family swim once a week.

Karen Voight workouts couple of times a week.
I love her workous as she has done a number of 30 mins DVDs which are not too hard to do in the evening prior to collapsing in a heap.

Yoga as well with DD helping.

dinny · 02/03/2008 14:58

trying to run min 15-25 miles a week (though since having ds have been slack and only done prob one/two short runs a week) trying to rectify that!

always always do at least one ashtanga class a week, sometimes two and then a little bit at home. love yoga, have done it religiously (almost!) for 12 years.

bramblebooks · 02/03/2008 15:12

running 10 miles a week at present, hoping to up to 15 + as the training increases.

3 sessions weighttraining at the gym after a treadmill run or road run as well.

That and lifting a glass of wine regularly.

WallOfSilence · 02/03/2008 15:22

1 hour spin class on a tuesday & thursday night.

Aerobics on a Friday night.

My sister teaches spin class 4 nights a week & aerobics on a friday night & sat/sun through the day.. she is so fit!

saadia · 02/03/2008 15:27

go to they gym every other day and walk/run on the treadmill for 30-40 mins on an incline.

Am also following an abs programme which is about nine mins every other day.

Lift weights for a few mins every day.

Stay motivated by thinking of the health benefits, and do it mainly for the health benefits as we have heart problems and diabetes in my family history.

Don't always enjoy the actual exercise but do have more energy afterwards and find my mood is generally much happier and energised, and have more patience.

lou33 · 02/03/2008 15:29

nothing

stirlingmum · 02/03/2008 18:25

I started using dh's eliptical machine last Nov and do at least 6km a day (cant get out much as dh works away and have 3 dc's and no family nearby to help).
Also, in an attempt to get a flatish stomach back, I do 100 sit-ups a day.
On a Sat morning I go to a local sports hall and do a circuits class. They work you really hard.
I am fitter now than in my early 20's (43 now!).
My motivation? Dh got a 29 yr old girlfriend. Really pissed me off!

Elibean · 02/03/2008 19:10

Those of you with small (baby - pre-school) children, how do you find the time/energy to do the 4 x week gym thing? Or are all your kids at school? (please say yes )

dinny · 02/03/2008 19:13

Elibena, I used to put dd/ds in gym creche

now dd is at school and ds does school nursery 3 x a week, I go then

dewmeadow · 02/03/2008 19:19

Elib_Ihave 3 under 4, 1 being 7 months and am finding it really hard to fit in regularly. And I NEEEED to as loads of weight tro lose and it helps me feel positive.

Maveta · 02/03/2008 19:22

I go for a jog with dh once a week but I would like to do more. pre baby I did a mix of gym (pump and step) and running with dh. We are trying to go more but it is hard to find the time

dinny · 02/03/2008 19:22

I have Reebok elliptical machien too and find that really good for whenever I can't get to gym or just doing 10-15 mins on before a shower sometimes... could that be a solution?

Maveta · 02/03/2008 19:25

oh i only answered the title of the post, not the qs in the op.

Yes I do enjoy it, it's hard to be motivated sometimes but I focus on the high I feel afterwards. Why? Because it gets rid of residual stress and anxiety, makes me feel very virtuous as I later chomp through chocolate/cheese/sinful food of choice, makes me feel great about myself as I can see the benefits to my body.

And as summer approaches I am spurred on by the looming bikini season

buttercreamfrosting · 02/03/2008 19:31

I 'do' Davina McCall 4 times a week. Don't know about her, but it keeps me really fit! I used to run outside which I loved and go to gym, but since having dc's excercise needs to be home based....

stirlingmum · 02/03/2008 19:33

I think the Reebock Elliptical is a great machine.
I am really toned up from using that every day and the fat burning side is good if you really push yourself.

kittywise · 02/03/2008 19:35

I do 'kettlebells' every other day and walk for about 4 hours a week.
Sometimes I 'jog' but I find it very hard now, I prefer to walk.

buttercreamfrosting · 02/03/2008 19:36

Forgot to add:

motivation: don't want to put back on 4stone I lost

Why: see above and it gives me energy and gives me enormous sense of achievement everytime

Enjoy? occasionally

Posey · 02/03/2008 19:46

Swim twice a week, between half and 1 mile a time.

Power walk twice a week, minimum 1 hour (approx 4.5 miles) but increasing now as training for the moonwalk.

I do it as it makes me feel loads better both physically and mentally, and I like the "me" time, where I can't be reached.

Motivated initially by some health problems in dh. We both decided we needed to be fitter.

hairtwiddler · 02/03/2008 19:49

For the last month have been doing half an hour on exercise bike every weekday before DD gets up. I feel loads better for it. To help motivate myself I've been writing down the distance I've cycled, and calories burned each day. It's so good to see the improvement. I am currently doing steady bursts of five minutes followed by a minute of going really fast. Repeat this until half an hour is up.

ib · 02/03/2008 21:30

Elibean, ds is 14 mo, but my training takes less than an hour per day. Dh can take care of him for that long! We just arrange our day to ensure I get my training time.

PetLamb · 02/03/2008 21:58

I run 3 times a week: runs varying between 3 and 8 miles and lots of hills at the moment, but I'm gradually increasing the distance.
Also try to do at least 1 session of spinning a week (I have my own spin bike), and I do between 200 and 600 sit ups every week.
I'm 39 and exercise has always been a very important part of my life. I don't need to motivate myself because I love it. My main problem is finding more time and energy as I have a 2-year-old and a job and I'd like to do a lot more!

KKx · 02/03/2008 22:02

NONE

branflake81 · 03/03/2008 12:19

I run or walk to work depending on how energetic I feel (3 miles, 5 days a week), I swim a mile at lunchtimes (work next to a swimming pool so am very lucky in that respect), do weights on sunday mornings and occasionally go to the gym in the evenings if I can.
