Is this an asthma attack?

I had childhood asthma but recently come back. Got blue inhaler but to review in 4 weeks.
I also have a chest infection and am on my first full day of ABs.

I just keep coughing and coughing this dry cough and my chest is tight. I did my oxygen levels and they are okay. Don't know if I'm having an asthma attack or this is chest infection? Although I've been coughing up green stuff and nothing is coming up.

I've done my blue inhaler but not really helping.
Not sure what to do next to be honest? I feel quite dizzy from the coughing so I'm sitting down and trying to take deep breaths.

Any advice is great

Call your GP, it sounds like you need reviewing as soon as possible. DD's sats are often OK when she's sitting still but as soon as she moves they plummet, did you do yours while you were still?

Sorry for the late response. I think I'm going to ring the GP this morning as I just can't get control of my chest. I'm using my blue inhaler quite frequently but still coughing/tight chest. I'm using it more than every 4 hours and I think that means I'm supposed to ring, I can't really remember but it can't hurt to speak to them.
Thanks for the reply :)

Never ever fuck around with asthma - bluntly, it can kill.

If the asthma sticks around you'll get a better feeling for what's coughing because of a cough and what's coughing because of asthma if that makes any sense, but for now you need someone to look at you.

Hopefully you get somewhere with the GP, sounds like you might need steroids.

If your practice is one where you can struggle to get seen, make sure to tell the receptionist you're struggling with your asthma. Not that your antibiotics haven't started working yet iykwim.

Too much blue inhaler makes me feel lightheaded too.
Call your GP, I would definitely ask for a review.

I agree you should go to your GP op. Do you have allergies like hayfever? These can make asthma worse. If you have an infection it could also be making it worse.

Also I really don't want to sound patronising but so many people don't actually take their asthma pump correctly. Please ask the GP to check how you take it or look online at YouTube videos. It really is important to learn how to take it the right way. I believe you should also leave 30 seconds between each pump too, for the inhaler to build back up.

Ds2 asthma was always triggered by a chest infection.

He had a peak flow metre that we used to check if he was bad (didn't really have home oxygen says metres available at the time)

He had an asthma plan that meant it was easy for me to tell when to take it to the next level. More blue puffs at first and then A&E if going over the puffs/session (without improvement) that was in his plan.

He also had the brown reliever as well for regular treatment (and later purple which is mix of preventer and reliever)

With asthma it's always better safe than sorry.

I saw the asthma nurse today and was given steroid tablets. Thanks so much :) have more of a plan now!
