Amazing physio appt

Not often my medical appts go so startlingly well!

I had a joint physio assessment of my sacroillitis with a senior physio using it as a teaching session for the physio I saw last time. Not only was it great because I learned a lot more about whats going on but also cos she made a real difference.

She assessed what was going on then did some really odd (to me!) manipulations which went some way to freeing up the joint. I'm going back next week for another go at it. I've got some exercises for home.

As soon as I stood up after I could feel the difference. Its still really sore but when I walk I don't feel like its all lopsided and it feels like hip movements are much more matched when I'm walking, it feels really bizarre.

I can't believe I've had this pain for so many years and no one thought that seeing a physio might be a good idea. I'm just gobsmacked!

Hey DB (over from the other 'identity' thread...)

Since you're on could I have some, er, free professional advice please?! Do I push for a physio appt to sort out my mahooooooosive diastasis or can I just do it on my own?

I swear I can feel my bowels bubbling up sometimes (er, TMI, but think lumps when, erm, gassy) and that can't be right after 3 kids and the latest at six months. I've done the fingers test and can get about a whole hand in there...

Any self-help suggestions?

dragonbutter · 29/02/2008 17:10

Definitely go see a physio, a whole hand is a big gap.
I'm unsure about my 1-2cm gap. Can't decided whether sit ups will make it worse or better.
You need a good ob/gyn/women's health physio specifically.
I can't remember what they recommend as my brain is mush.

Hi monkey bird
When I had A gap I used to lay down twice a day flat on back with pelvis in neutral (ie imagine making diamond over tummy button and have it flat not pushed into floor or back arched. Knees bent .
Slowly slide fingers up thighs to knees slowly and down x10 twice a day this decreased gap tbh if unsure get gp to make you obstetric physio appointment they are very helpful
galaxy
or could try pn pilates
