does anybody know what the incubation period might be? DS, DH and I have had it today (urgh) and I am wondering when DD might be expected to come down with it.

Maybe by tomorrow. DD got it on Thursday, I got it Friday and DS got it on Saturday.

wrapmefestively · 14/12/2004 21:50

I hope you are right Cal, 'cos baby ds got it yesterday...so hopefully if me, dh and dd get to tomorrow without any ill effects we might be in the clear

However 'gut' feel based on plenty of experience of vomiting bugs (2 Nursery children)is allow for 72 hours before breatheing sigh of relief

Eulalia · 14/12/2004 22:11

I had it and it took 7 days before my dd and ds got it. However I suspect she got it from someone else. Usually about 3 days is the usual for these bugs.

Hope you feel better soon.

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 14/12/2004 22:13

Ds1 had it on the Friday night... me, dh and ds2 came down with it on the Monday... feeling sick in the morning, me actually being sick by lunchtime.

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 14/12/2004 22:14

How long does it last please?

DS been vomiting since Monday morning

codswallop · 14/12/2004 22:16

friend was on ly 24 hours in s wilts!

Linnet · 14/12/2004 22:16

Dd1 and I came down with the bug in the early hours of last Monday morning and we were ill all day Monday. Dh was ill by 11pm that night. dd2 managed to avoid it completely.
My granny came down with it on the Tuesday and my brother got it on Thursday.

wrapmefestively · 14/12/2004 22:19

Re the how long does it last - I think it just depends on the kid. Baby ds had it acutely but very short lived...first vomit was at 16.00 yesterday (Monday) and last vomit was at 03.30 this morning. After his lunch time nap today I would say he was pretty much back to normal.

I am going to be sooooo pissed of if dd gets it on Friday or something, because I have booked for her to go on a couple of Santa's grotto type things this weekend.

wrapmefestively · 14/12/2004 22:20

Ah that's interesting Coddy - we are Wiltshire, so it must be a short and not so sweet wiltshire strain that ds had for just under 24 hours

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 14/12/2004 22:36

24hrs for me ... but appetite feeling 100% took the rest of the week, tbh. Ds2 ... barely noticed he had it but assuming my antibodies in the breastmilk helped there. Dh was never sick just felt grotty for 24hrs. So I think we had a "mild" dose.

WigWamBam · 14/12/2004 22:41

Twiglett, think it depends on the person and how mild a dose they get. DD has had tummy pain for about 5 days, diarrhoea for three days, threw up all last night, and still has such a high temperature that she's been hallucinating.

JingleBellJodee · 14/12/2004 23:29

When it went round our house a few weeks back, DS was throwing up all Sat night, it got me on the Monday morning, all day, both ends (yuk). DH came home Monday night and had it during the night, but he actually passed out twice.

florenceuk · 15/12/2004 12:26

Well, for us it has been a 24hr thing. DH got it the worst, violent reactions at both ends. DS finished vomiting by early morning, today he is still a bit below par (lay on couch watching Cbeebies). DD very unsettled today but that is normal - I'll cross my fingers until the weekend. Maybe antibodies in milk will help?

I didn't know there was actually something going around! Glad to know as ds had diarrhoea on sunday night and was sick through monday and tuesday, day and night. Not sure about today, i don't want to tempt fate!

wrapmefestively · 15/12/2004 13:44

I hope he is better soon twiglett....

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 15/12/2004 14:40

have given DS some phenergan (a friend brought it round, its for allergies and travel sickness but acts well as an anti-emetic) .. he has so far kept down 2 apples and a chicken nugget (healthy one not processed )

just thought I'd mention if anyone else at their wits end .. Phenergan is suitable for over 2's

WigWamBam · 15/12/2004 15:10

Can you buy it over the counter, twiglett, or do you need a prescription?

Wallace · 15/12/2004 19:58

Dd got it 2 weeks after ds, but I think she must have caught it from someone else. They were both lucky and only had it for less than 24 hours.
