My body feels really run down/stressed even though I'm not stressed?

Recently I've had several symptoms that are all linked with stress. I have stress hives nearly every morning, TMJ pain despite never having had it before, patches of dyshidrotic eczema (apparently associated with stress, never have suffered with this before), and now a twitching eyelid.

I'm in my late 20s, and I'm not stressed at all. I've had 2 months off work over the summer, and will be starting university in September for a much wanted career change. I'm otherwise healthy, and my recent blood tests have all came back ok. I sleep really well (8 hours everynight), and eat a reasonably healthy diet.

They are all minor things on their own, but all together I just feel like my body is stressed and run down for no reason?

Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.

See a functional doctor.

Improve your diet, remove any intolerances.

Try some stress reducing activities (even though you don’t feel stressed), such as meditations and breathing exercises and yoga - look on you tube for free ones

Your body is telling you very clearly that you are stressed. You're saying that consciously you don't feel stressed.

So what you are going to need to do now is do some detective work to try to find out what is upsetting your body.

Is it something you are eating? Could it be washing powder (hives, eczema)? Look at what pain/problems you have and try to analyse what is impacting it.

Not an easy process, sorry.

I had my thyroid checked which was normal, I've been keeping a food diary for 2 weeks due to having some stomach/GI issues but so far haven't found a link.

The issues begun to appear consistently around a year ago when I was in a different job, and have been present ever since even on holidays so I don't think it's because of a stressful period of time. I live a pretty small and stable life so I don't have much external stress, but I am a bit of a worrier.

I did have a test for coeliac disease which was negative, but I'm still considering reducing my gluten intake as I've read that can cause all kinds of issues.

For the GI issues don’t start cutting out food groups, gluten isn’t problematic for most people. Adding in some fermented foods like natural/Greek yoghurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, tofu will be helpful in adding good bacteria. And if you can’t stomach those foods a probiotic, the best you can afford may help. Excess sugar, fried foods, can all cause issues.
About 70% of the immune system is in the gut, not to mention the gut/brain axis (a nerve connects the gut and the brain) so if you’re experiencing GI issues therein could be the issue.

1 in 100 have coeliac disease so gluten is a problem for a lot of people.

Best to eliminate it under guidance of gp/ gastro consultant though. You could always eliminate it for 2 weeks then bring it back and keep a diary to take to gp if anything crops up.

Have you had iron checked?

Hi, did a doctor diagnose you with those things? It's just that if not, your use of medical terminology suggests you might potentially have health anxiety?

Yes, I also have a background in medical science so tend to use medical terminology without realising.
