Can piles be hard? Worried.

I have suffered with piles for 11 years; since I had my son. Would flare up and go again but never fully went away. Had my daughter two years ago and have had a pretty bad one so I have asked to be referred; being seen late sept.

But I have had a feel down their lately and I had a really hard lump on my anus. Probably a little bigger than a pea.

Should I be concerned?

I know I shouldn't jump straight to 'cancer' but my auntie died from misdiagnosed bowel cancer some years ago so I am a little nervous.

My stools are and have been all over the place for years. Blood etc but always thought that was from piles.

Should I call my GP tomorrow? She never saw my bottom when I asked to be referred. She just saw my history and was like 'that's a long time to have piles.'

Yes they can develop hard lumps, when a vein thromboses I think (not a medic, a fellow sufferer) so please don't panic.
Obviously get it looked at - I think you should insist it's properly looked at - but don't panic.
Hope you get proper medical attention and reassurance OP.

My old pals are always more like solid little peas when they come to visit. Absolutely have the GP check if it's unusual for you - just offering some reassurance that it's not unheard of. X
