Chronic hives on boobs , PLS help .I’m miserable

Hello

im a regular poster but just changed my username for privacy. Not a troll pls

Pls I would really appreciate anyones response on if they have experienced this as I have scoured the internet for answers

In January, I was sitting down working from home on my laptop a bit tensed and getting heated up and then this sudden scratch started on my left boob , like something was irritating it. I quickly washed it and hives appeared and took antihistamines and it went down

Since then it’s been happening every two-3 days . Started on the left boob then 2 months later went to the right boob. So since January I have been having this issue

When it starts , HIVES or welts just start appearing from any little pressure on them (sometimes even without touching them) . They just start appearing and I take an antihistamine, calms it down for 2 days and it’s back again

I have done breast scans , dermatologist visits etc ., daktacort, antifungal creams etc. No one can say. It’s so strange because it’s just on my boobs , no where else

From what I have gathered it’s CHRONIC URTICARIA but why just on boobs ?

I try to moisturise when I have just had a. Bath when it’s still wet skin . I don’t even know if it’s working but I notice it happens worse when they are dry . I can’t wear bras anymore

I have had other symptoms don’t know if they are related that started later in the year like burning tip of tongue, dry eyes etc . Done numerous blood tests

I have tried probiotics, fluconazole ( for yeast), so many things

I have attached pics but cropped as much as possible

Anyone had random HIVES on boobs ? Pls help? It’s f..king my mental health

Thank you

Hives were a huge part of perimenopause for me and dry eyes. But hives were in random places not one area. Eventually it went away.
Also did you have Covid as l have had skin issues/ itchiness/ blisters since Covid.
Cold showers help me with antihistamines.

This has what has been on my mind exactly to be honest . Peri menopause but I’m 38.. Don’t know if I’m there yet

That’s why I listed my other symptoms though they came few months later. I had random neuropathic itching of , hands and feet , dry eyes, burning tip of tongue which have massively improved , just the hives still

at the same time I thought it was post viral because I had a nasty cold sore ( which I haven’t in years) 6 days before this issue started but surely post viral hives should have gone since January ?

I’ve searched and searched it’s tiring 😟

I get pressure hives (dermatographia) but not just in one place.
Usually on my arms, stomach and chest. It seems to come in stages, it’s not always bad but sometimes the slightest knock or scratch can flare it up.

I’ve never seen it as anything to stress about, it’s just a weird quirk of my body. Plus I like being able to draw patterns on my skin 😄

Yes when it happens I place my finger lightly across and a huge welt just appears 😩😩

bloody creepy for me

I had hives and angioedema that I think were triggered by a virus. Antihistamines didn't do a lot. Histamine containing foods definitely caused a flare- salami, bacon and things like that. I cut them out for 8 months and then gradually introduced them and have been fine since. I got hives across my neck and torso but particularly where clothes rubbed like the boobs.

I feel for you though, it's hideous and I'd absolutely hate for it to come back.

I feel your pain, I'm on my third bout of chronic urticaria. Each time lasts about 9 months. I've tried avoiding high histamine foods and all that, but nothing works except a high dose of fexofenadine.

My doctor says that I'm basically allergic to myself. The trigger this time was a bad flu at Christmas time and my body likely went into overdrive to fight the infection and that manifested in hives. The time before that I'd recently given birth, and the first time was when I stayed in a friend's house and she had fleas. I suspect I got bitten and had a massive reaction.

As PP have said, heat and pressure always kick them off. Sorry you're going through this.

Thank you

I thought post viral as well because I had a nasty cold sore a week before this started so my body may have been fighting a virus .
it’s just been too long. It’s making me feel sad 😞

Have you tried acupuncture? I’m prone to skin issues and I find it really good, though I usually need a few sessions to knock it on the head (but then won’t have issues for years?. I find it really effective for chronic, systemic issues that western medicine just focuses on treating the symptoms of (usually unsatisfactorily), rather than attempting to identify and neutralise the root cause.

I did acupuncture last year for neck pain after gathering the nerves for it.

the guy drove one of the needles too deep and now I have a phobia for it😩

but I have thought this through cos I’m desperate for anything

i wouldnt really mind if on my arms or legs but just so Uncomfortable where it is now and scares me it’s something sinister

I’d take regular antiihistamines at night for a while. Won’t do you any harm and may start to ease it. There are Biologics that can help with chronic urcartia, I’d ask a your next Derm appointment if it’s suitable and might help.

Thanks will take note of this

I have suffered over the years with uticaria: sun , heat and stress being the main triggers. Not boobs but thighs, elbows and knees! Anti histamines and cold flannels/ showers , definitely keep the area clean and cool. Its miserable sorry but hopefully will pass. I would try not to worry too much.

Thank you

I went through a phase of getting really itchy boobs constantly for about a year. I was constantly scratching at them, even with my hairbrush at times. I didn't notice a change in skin though ie urticaria, but I wasn't really looking and I didn't see my GP either. I was worried it might be breast cancer as that's a sign.

It just went in the end.

I did however start on HRT a few months ago so it could have been that that stopped it, because thinking about it it stopped round about then but I have no way of knowing.

It's the only thing I can think of that changed in my life.

It itched more than it hurt, Fexofenadine didn't help at all but another anti histimine did Pro something, knocks you out but a lovely sleep after so little sleep. Rash was all over my body.
Really hope you get sorted, I feel your pain!

I have chronic and cholinergic urticaria and pressure urticaria
Usually take 4 Zyrtec a day as fexofenadine didn't work for me, I've had it 27 years now
There is a drug (Xolair injections) for hives but honestly I'm not sure they would give it. I was at the point of not being able to walk without breaking out, and this was taken after exercise
It's incredibly expensive and so not common on NHS

How are your B12 levels? I suffered with itchy skin and intermittent hives for years until I started B12 injections and then (once somewhat improved) high dose oral supplements.

Throughout this time I had normal serum B12. And chronic anemia which iron supplements didn't help. Finally the anemia has gone.

I still have nightmarish allergies. Try some different antihistamines if you can. Bilastine (widely available in Europe though not here OTC) has helped me most with skin issues. And, yes, you need to take daily.

Thank you . The b12 blood test I had vac in January said they were slightly high though I have read they don’t normally seem correct .

my iron is quite low at 27 so also started taking iron supplements

thank you for your help. I’ve started taking the antihistamine daily for now

Anything else new you're wearing? Earrings etc.?

I suffered for months with dermatographia in certain places, nowhere near my ears. But i was actually allergic to the backs of my earrings, it went away completely when I removed them.

I've had hives for years. It sometimes is just 'one of those things'

It tends to come in attacks I find and then there's a little respite for a day or two.

You sound very focussed and anxious about it. Try and divert attention elsewhere and stop thinking about it. I know that may be easier said than done but constantly tossing it over in your mind won't help

Hello my itchy friends!
I've suffered with eczema/dermatitis for about 20+ years.
It's recently evolved to severe hives on face and forearms, neck and hands. Just so freaking itchy and sore. And fungal skin rash too.
Just been prescribed ketoconazole (nizoral shampoo 2%) which I thought would irritate but it didn't. Early days but hopeful!
You just need something to soothe it don't you!
A cold shower and cold flannel is great. Followed by Epaderm ointment. Antihistamines.
It's just the worst.
Good luck everyone - keep cool and NO SCRATCHING!

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 20/08/2023 07:01

I had a bout of chronic urticara but it was randomly on a different part of my body most day so sometimes my arms, legs, torso and twice my face swelled up so I could hardly see out. I never got to the bottom of why either but took a daily (strong) antihistamine and it eventually went away. The consultant also prescribed me emla cream which helped with the itching a lot. Ask if you can have that. If you can ease the discomfort of it, it might also ease the stress you feel which might help.

I also have your other symptoms now. Dry eyes, burning tongue, & occasional sore joints and I’ve since been diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome. There isn’t any particular treatment for it but as a pp said, it’s probably an autoimmune condition you have and will hopefully come and go. You must be due a period of go soon! 🤞🏻

SaltyCrisps · 20/08/2023 20:41

Just a thought, but could it be some sort of sweat/pressure thing caused by your bra? That could be why it's just on your boobs. In the past I've sometimes had something similar when wearing wool socks for hiking.
