My dad rang me earlier to tell me that his wife complained she had a bad head and that she was gonna pass out. She did and had a fit and started severe vomiting.Ambulance took her to hospital and a scan revealed she has a blood clot in the brain. She is so fit and healthy, just suffers occasional migraines. They are operating tomorrow and told my dad she wont be coming out for another 2 weeks at least. Are there any professionals out there that can tell me straight her chances? My next door neighbour had the same thing and never came home, thanks

So very sorry - I hope someone comes along soon who can help.

It is very hard to say what peoples chances are with this kind of situation. The brain is a very complex organ. But that they have caught it early is good.

I think you have to have a chat with your dad and try and get him to think about all outcomes. Good luck for her and you.

they have put her operation back to monday now. My dad is so stressed out i cannot understand what he is saying half the time. My sister and brother are travelling there sunday so hopefully they can get some answers. Are they putting the op back because she has improved or worsened or staff shortages????I cannot talk to him about any other outcome than a positive one, he sounds very fragile

they don't put that sort of op back due to staff shortages, I promise you. It is most likely because she has stabilised, but could be because she is not stable enough. You really need to ask the team looking after her. Most people with cerebral aneurysm survive, keep that thought in mind!

Aw you poor thing. This happened to my step mum about 12 years ago. I absolutely adore her. She had a bleed on her brain. I too received a phonecall from my Dad. I have to say, she is alive to tell the tale and she's amazing. V scary experience, but MANY people come out of it just fine. I truly hope you find my post some comfort. Wishing your step mum the VERY best of luck.x
