Armpits sting when I swear

The problem started at the beginning of winter. I was wearing Uniqlo thermals and my usual dove deodorant. An area around my armpits became extremely itchy and sore with eczema. GP gave me betamethasone for the eczema.
I ditched the thermals and started to use an eco deodorant. It seemed to improve for ages and the eczema has gone but my armpits become very sore and uncomfortable when I sweat.
I think it's called prickly heat.
No idea how to get to the bottom of it. Any ideas?
Tia

I love your title, my armpits would be red raw. I swear far too much

So has to be very careful with the deodorant used. For him it’s a problem with aluminium, but after a while he has to change brands

If it's prickly heat then aloe vera straight from the plant works wonders.

userxx · 14/08/2023 12:40

it's an armpit swear jar... brilliant.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 14/08/2023 12:44

I can feel my armpits prickle if I suddenly feel stressed.

And DH claims that he's allergic to his own sweat 😄 - it's probably this now that I read it. He uses women's Dove deodorant, and says that helps.

If you shave your pits then stop.

Maybe try Nuud cream deodorant which is only applied every few days and has silver in it which is a good anti-microbial and supports healing.

Don't use fabric conditioner on your clothes as it will affect breathability.

Tiddlywinks63 · 14/08/2023 13:13

I’d stop swearing OP!

Wash your mouth out with soap?!

MeinKraft · 14/08/2023 13:52

Is it a bit smelly? I am wondering if it might be intertrigo in which case get some Daktacourt from the chemist.

Soundofshuna · 14/08/2023 14:26

this asks some many more questions than it answers. How did you first notice? Do you swear a lot? Is a mild expletive as bad as true filth etc etc

Fizzadora · 14/08/2023 14:32

I got this with Dove deodorant and wearing something tight with probably a bit too much polyester in. Nasty BO which I never had before or since. The itching took about 3 months and daily anti histamines to calm down after I switched to Sure.
I can use the Dove body wash but not the deodorant.

I laughed so much at this!!!

Can you bottle this disorder and sell it to parents of potty mouthed teenagers? GrinGrin

SillyBillyMother · 14/08/2023 17:21

🤣I didn't notice this! It's a coincidence because this morning I vowed to stop swearing because I do in fact swear far too much. I will report back if this improves conditions under my arms. Many thanks!

I've been using Dove deodorant for years and wondered if they'd changed the formula. I have stopped using it now, and the itching does return a bit on the occasions I have used it since.

I've been using Pit Balm since, and I might stop that in favour of Nuud to see if that improves the stinging. Thank you @GeraldTheGoodMouse

@LuckOfTheDrawer I've been saying I'm allergic to my own sweat too 😆

@MeinKraft it's not smelly, although the transitional phase from dove to hippy deodorant was a bit smellier than usual. but definitely not abnormally so.

I clicked on this thread as I was intrigued about swearing impacting your armpits, and this thread has actually made my cry with laughter.
