Does this sound like a panic attack?

I have just had really weird episode after getting my dd off the bus. My chest went really tight and the back of my throat and then I started to panic. I am now feeling really anxious ( and I think i have convinced myself i have a pain all up my arm)

I have had panic attacks before but something has usually triggered them, like me being really upset or something. I am just not sure whther this was one, sitting here worrying now which isnt helping. I am sure it was

they always seem to hit me when I think I'm over them too.Had a bad one on ds's birthday on the morning of the party and I was really looking forward to it?Is there something coming up that you are worried about? It is probably an isolated one but I know that you will be thinking you will get more now but since I stopped having them badly I usually get just one and then nothing

I think the time of year doesn't help. I've been feeling really anxious and a bit down. Low light levels I suppose.

JaNgLyBELLS · 14/12/2004 16:20

and a bit of christmas stress!

SantaFio2 · 14/12/2004 16:20

I have a surveyor coming tommorrow, but I amnnot really that worried about it. I dunno

i think i feel under pressure with me being the only one to get the kids and stuff, but nothing that i would have thought would cause one. Noddy they are awful arent they? i had a really bad one once and thought I was dying

I have been to hospital a couple of times with them so embarressing but I really thought I was having a seizure or something. It took me years to conquer them and even now I go to pieces. Are you alone all day?Can you call someone to come round for a coffee or something.Sometimes the only way for me is to be totally distracted

noddyholder · 14/12/2004 16:24

moving is v stressful so it could be that

SantaFio2 · 14/12/2004 16:26

If your heart races, running round the garden helps! You need to burn off the adrenaline. Don't worry about the neighbours. Amazingly, you don't die with them do you?!

juniperdropofbrandy · 14/12/2004 16:50

Awwww poor you fio

I know how you feel hun, I had them for ages and still get the odd one. You convince yourself it's something else and you must be dying! And the blxxxx things disguise themselves too so they can be one way then another and you think 'no, this is so different it can't be one?'
Are you going to take a trip to the docs to put your mind at rest? Are/have you been on any meds for them? I'm on St johns now and that helps but it isn't for everyone.
And yes they do come out of the blue but I know of many people who have an isolated episode, like you after ages of not having them and that's just it, isolated.
There's an accupressure tecnique that works wonders, you tap under your eyes on the bone and it takes away stress/panic. Either that or you're so embarassed you forget about them
Seriously, it does work. A natural health therapist showed it to me.
