Only time she's had this before it spread very fast and was an allergic reaction to antibiotics.

Now, it's only on her hands and bottom of her feet - itchy and bothering her - she was distressed, but it's not getting any worse and she's ok. Oh, and some on her cheek bones.

She's not had anything different to eat or drink, no medication or anything. Any idea what it could be or what would help? Will obviously call GP if it gets any worse or spreads anymore.

DH gets it for no apparent reason, we have tried to work out what triggers it but can't find a common link.

DS also gets it but his is due to an egg allergy.

As Misdee says - give her some piriton

misdee · 28/02/2008 11:35

dd1 gets it, its purely enviromental.

also if she has anything with food colourings in it can make her mroe senstive to 'safe' stuff. tartrazine is our enemy here.

it's very often a reaction to a virus. Has she got a sore throat/cold?

Boco · 28/02/2008 11:38

She had an upset tummy all day on Monday, and was better, just a bit wiped out, maybe it's that?

At toddlers she had very cheapo squash, maybe it was that?

Right, running to the shop, thank you.

It could be hand, foot and mouth disease, there is an epidemic going round our school at the moment.

belgo · 28/02/2008 11:40

hand foot and mouth isn't usually itchy, it causes tiny blisters and spots and painful mouth ulcers.

Boco · 28/02/2008 21:19

It seems to have been caused by oranges! She had a segment of orange this evening and it happened again - she had a bit of orange at toddler group. Never happened before with oranges, but has had a tummy upset this week so must be more sensitive. Weird.

DS had this when he wasn't well - GP said it was a physcial reaction to him being run down

Has the piriton helped your DD?

RubySlippers · 28/02/2008 21:23

doh - just seen it was the oranges
