Broken teeth too embarrassed to see Dentist

Ok so a couple of years ago I was on long term antibiotic therapy and this treatment led to weakness in my teeth. I have a couple of broken teeth in the top right and top left and it was never painful because I previously had Root Canal and was too embarrassed to see my dentist and left it as the teeth are at the back so weren’t noticeable.

After 2 years they are starting to hurt now which I find strange after all this time and I am just so embarrassed for my dentist to see the state of them. Anyone else felt this way.

Flowers Many people feel embarrassed about their teeth. Dentists are trained to help you.

I totally understand the feeling, but being pain free will be so much better if you can make yourself go.

Take a friend or partner if you're scared. I used to go with someone else. The dentist understood.

I've had periods in my life when I really struggled to look after my teeth, plus a fear of dental treatment. So I'd eventually go to the dentist with obviously neglected teeth, or problems that had been exacerbated by neglect. I never told the dentist about my issues that had led to the eject.

No dentist has ever been judgemental or unpleasant about the condition of my teeth. None has ever shown anything other than neutral, professional interest.

Please, feel no shame. The dentist is there to help you with your teeth.

It’s very common to be scared of the dentist , they see patients like you all the time and they won’t judge you. In fact some dentists find it so rewarding to work with anxious patients that they specialise in it.

So please try to pluck up the courage to go. It’s fine to have someone go with you.

I understand being embarrased but honestly the dentist won't be judging or anything- a huge part of their job is sorting damaged/decayed teeth.
If your teeth were perfect there wouldn't be much reason to go.

They are just a medical professional providing a service- just like how a person with an excema flare up doesn't need to be embarrased going to a dermatologist, or someone in need of a haircut doesn't need to be embarassed going to the hairdresser- It is their job and its why people come to them.
The wait times for an appointment can be rough- hopefully you can get one soon, dental pain is awful to live with
