For the past two weeks, i have had pain when passing stool around the anal area ( sorry for the detail,. Also there is a little bright red blood on the tissue. It feels awkward, like a have some spots or small blisters. I am aware of it and feel it even while lying down, walking etc.....
Is it haemoroids, is there any way to treat it, without an embarsing visit to the doctors

You can get cream for them to try
one is called preparation H

NatalieJane · 27/02/2008 18:09

Anusol, you can get in supermarkets, if that is less embarressing? I don't know.

The doctors really have seen haemoroids before though. And in fact would not really 'see' it, he'll just write a prescription

embarrisingpain · 27/02/2008 18:10

could be worms. dd had this symptoms and whole family had them. more common than ppl know

mumofdjandp · 27/02/2008 19:10

can I add in can you see worms? I have always wondered!

or can you not see them with the naked eye?

PuppyMonkey · 27/02/2008 19:14

Sounds like piles. Get thee to the chemists for some germaloid spray. Make sure you drink plenty of water and eat a good high fibre diet to make your poo less, hard. TMI. You're not pg are you? V.common. I had em for months after I gave birth to dd2.

DD1 had threadworms and there was no blood.

Gosh, we sound like a fun family don't we?

bigwombat · 27/02/2008 19:23

Sounds definitely like piles. Not aware that threadworms cause bleeding unless perhaps if you have been scratching a lot. There are lots of products available over the counter in pharmacy.

Yes you can see threadworms, they are small creamy-white, about 1/2 cm in length!!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/02/2008 19:52

Almost definitely piles. The good news is they're easy to treat. Germoloid cream is yet another make and they are sold at chemists, supermarkets etc.

You can get pessaries too if you think you have quite bad piles - wear a pad after using because they disolve and then leak chalky-white stuff on your pants. Or it'll stay in until you have a poo, which will have a distinctly white 70s dog-poo look about it! (Sorry!!!).

Piles are caused by constipation so as puppy says, lots of water & fibre in diet. Other causes are iron supplements, pregnancy, post-birth and drinking lots of Guinness.

You'll be fine in a couple of days.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/02/2008 19:53

Not pessaries but suppositories. Same difference!
