One shoe inside more worn than the other. Bad back - could this be the issue?

I have really bad back/hip that seems to be getting worse and worse.
I got these shoes two months ago wear them 3 days a week and I was shocked to see the inside of my right shoe is so worn compared to the left.
Its my left hip/lower back that is usually agony.

So would this indicate something wrong here. Maybe I have one leg longer than the other?!

Have you seen a podiatrist? You might need an inner sole, but if your hips and back are out- I assume that is the reason.

They aren't the best shoes at all though for foot health, because your toes will crunch up in a vain attempt to hold them on. Certainly worth getting a professional opinion and much better shoes. Will will notice the difference!

A chiropractor is your first point of call

One ankle is rolling in, which is putting you out of alignment (or at least one is rolling in more than the other). You can see if where the top shoe is stretched wide.

They may have cost a fair bit, being M&S, but a) they're knackered and b) they're shit shoes when your ankle rolls in.

Get some 'sensible' lace ups with decent support on the sides, probably a size larger, and put some arch supports in them. Or running shoes (not M&S trainers), take out the lining insole and replace it with arch supports. you can get them on Amazon for under £15.

After the first couple of days where it'll feel weird, your calf muscles will ache more than usual and you might have aches up the side of your foot as the muscles join the shins, you'll notice than your back doesn't hurt quite so much, because your feet are in the correct position. Also, try to walk with your foot flexing and rolling/pushing off with your toes bending instead of thumping down on your heels, as that's jarring you all the way up from your heel to your hip and back.

You'll also find that you won't get that patch of hard/sore skin on the middle of the ball of your foot where your shoes are constantly slipping and sliding.

Please don't go to a chiropractor, they are quacks at best and you risk stroke at worst.

I would suggest going to a physio to get assessed and they can then prescribe some exercise or treatment to balance you up. We can self refer to physiotherapy at my GP surgery.

Oh thank you all!

@NeverDropYourMooncup can you send me a link to what you'd describe as good supportive shoes?! I already stopped wearing heels and I am fearing you may be thinking of something fuddy duddy for me. But I do know I need to change something so am willing to try!

I went to a chiropractor about my back about a year ago and he apparently pinpointed the exact muscle I was having problems with.gave me some exercises to try but I never did them... Too tired and don't have time!

Also need to lose a stone or so In weight after having two kids.

Agree, chiropractors are not who you want to see!

You need a physiotherapist.

Your back injury has a caused one side to overcompensate so one foot/leg is taking most of the weight - physiotherapy and pilates should sort you out. Many physiotherapists combine the two. Although a podiatrist is also a good call, they're pretty specialised.

A podiatrist will also be able to supply you with the right insoles/shoe recommendations to help support your foot in the meantime.

Ok I'm going to get on to a physiotherapist.

Thank you :)
