I've posted on here before about ongoing issues with bradycardia, low O2 sats, low blood pressure, especially since having covid 13 months ago. Still ongoing, supposed to have had echocardiogram and angiogram months ago, and to have seen the cardiologist again. He says I will need a pacemaker. Nothing has happened despite my GP contacting the hospital. In the meantime, day after day of a resting HR of 32> means being unable to actually live my life normally. I emailed the doc today about HR being 31, BP of 97/45, vision being affected...I couldn't face talking, and written messages are less likely to be forgotten about. Nobody called me back. I've been carted to the hospital so many times, and told that yes, I need seeing urgently...blah blah...go home and be patient -Hah! It's triage, isn't it...being a septuagenarian means being at the bottom of the pile. FFS - i only stopped working a couple of years ago still pay a heap of tax, and do so much for people in the community. But no longer needed. Don't get old, girls.

Some time ago, doc's nurse told me that a young man had just come into the surgery with a HR of 29. Pacemaker within hours. I certainly don't begrudge the young in the slightest, but I'd like one too, please.

If you pay a heap of tax can you go privately?

But what a horrific situation for you. You've paid into the system all your life only for it to let you down at a point where a) a course of treatment is clear and b) you might (only in your 70s!) be able to look forward to another 20 years of more of an active life. The NHS is a shambles and sadly anyone who isn't a priority is treated very badly.

My neighbour who used to be a GP says, I think not entirely in jest, that over 70 they will only do cheaper treatments and operations, and over 85 it's basically only painkillers.

Have you contacted the cardiologist directly? Tried their secretary?

How about PALS at the hospital?

I agree it's possibly age related and unfair.

Do you have the funds to chase things privately?

I don't think many people get any kind of treatment within hours these days sadly. I hope they sort you out soon.
