Around 13 years ago just after my dd1, I developed a DVT. Little did I know about them and left it several weeks thinking it was muscle pain until I couldn't walk on it and was in agony.
Since then, I've had similar pain once or twice a year and it usually turns out to be superficial phlebitis. It's always in the same calf and sometimes goes away after a few days. Last time, pain didn't go away so I got it checked and it showed a superficial clot. When I do see a doc about it, sometimes they send me to A and E to get scanned, sometimes they don't. When I am sent in D dimer is always high which then leads to them giving me Heparin until I have a scan.
Last time was in October/November and I had my leg scanned a few days later. They haven't done this before but they put me on 6 weeks of Heparin because it was recurring.
Pain is back. As usual, it goes away once I've got up and started moving but as soon as I sit/lie still and then go to get up it starts being very painful again. Worst is in the morning after being in bed. My veins are enlarged in the leg and have become a lot more visible over the last year or so but other than that, it's just pain ( no redness/swelling etc).
Anyway, I'm on holiday with my three children and nobody to look after them (they are not really young but wouldn't want to leave them alone in a strange place). I can't bare the thought of dragging them to hospital.
Do I phone the nearest GP surgery or just wait for it to go away ( as I'm pretty sure it'll be superficial and not DVT)?
