...one arm is red and warm around the injection site. He has complained his arm hurts.

He had MMR II and Pediacel

He doesn't have a temp.

It is one of the side effects,do you think I should get in touch with the GP.

Hi wings
yes it's supposed to be -- "localised reaction" i think it's called
I hope he's ok
but I would get on google to confirm as am not medical

WingsofanAngel · 27/02/2008 12:13

I've googled and read the info that came with the vaccine. I'll keep a check on him.
Poor little lamb had two jabs at once.

It's quite normal I'm afraid, it's a localised reaction and usually means he's having a good immune response.

Did he have both in the same arm? He should have had one in each.

If it's warm you can put a cool flannel on it. Anti-histamines have a limited benefit for a single localised reaction but paracetamol/ibuprofen can help especially if given regularly until better.

WingsofanAngel · 27/02/2008 12:22

He had one in each arm but there were two nurses and they did them at the same time.

I'll try some paracetamol. He's happy in his self just complains that his are hurts.

poor thing

electra · 27/02/2008 12:33

Keep an eye on it....there is a site where you can report reactions - I'll see if I can find it

WingsofanAngel · 27/02/2008 12:39

Is it the yellow card thing, I had a quick look at that before the school run.

OP posts:

Yellow card is for more severe usually systemic reactions. Or a huge localised reaction (ie larger than a 50p piece, blistered, infected etc)

Hopefully the soreness will settle soon, especially with painkillers. Try the cool flannel thing, it's nice and soothing. (wet them and keep a few in the fridge)

Hope he feels better soon.
