Crocs - good/bad for toddlers?

Anyone have any insight into crocs and if they are suitable for toddlers? I have in the back of my mind they are not recommended but I'm not sure...

I have to admit, I haven’t a clue if they’re the best in terms of foot position etc but I do know they’re an absolute godsend for the garden and yard as they’re so quick to put on and very easy to clean

NeverDropYourMooncup · 31/07/2023 11:02

They're unlikely to be able to feel the ground as well as barefoot or wearing wide, well fitting shoes.

I think they'd be terrible for developing feet if worn for long periods of time. Some stretchy sandals would be better.

I think for short periods like on holiday or in the garden, they're fine. As the toddlers only shoes, then less so.

VikingVolva · 31/07/2023 11:18

No they're not good for the feet as they are loose and can flap around.

But they're a good enough choice for a week or two at the beach in the summer. I'd alternate them with fitted sandals with secure straps (so shoes don't slip around) or lace ups (like trainers). And barefoot when possible

On the plus side, they're nigh on indestructible, and easy to clean thoroughly so can be handed down many, many, many times

My Grandson ( ASD) age 9 has insoles especially made for him due to walking ' in' on his feet and we have to massage his feet for him on a night.. on holiday he wanted to wear sandals but the insoles wouldn't fit in ( he only wears clarks trainers) l bought him some croc sandals ( not the usual popular croc shoes) and we let him wear them occasionally on holiday and to go in the sea in.. and he said they were the most comfortable footwear ever and his feet didn't hurt.

I think fine for garden/hols/beach but for everyday wear, running about and parks I don't like them. I just think they are clumsy and an accident waiting to happen

Interesting, thanks all for your replies. 🤗

Late to answer, sorry, but I'd say bad!!
Great for running around in and going into the sea, but toddlers feet are just starting to form properly and they won't do that with crocs!
So, for occasional wear, like the beach, yeah not so bad. For more than occasional, definitely bad!!

coxesorangepippin · 01/11/2023 02:13

Depends if you have one that runs a lot I'd say

IMarchToADifferentDrummer · 01/11/2023 04:51

Well, if the child can't walk, then they're absolutely fine. Maybe.
But if the child does walk and runs around, and if you want them to have properly formed feet, especially at the back of the foot, then sturdy shoes are better!!
