Rotar cuff tear?

Hi and thank you for reading and any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecIated.

ive had shoulder pain in my right arm for I’d say coming in at least a year and a half. I’ve been to physio for this but yet keeps getting worse.
pain relief doesn’t help. It’s a deep pain within my shoulder which radiates to my elbow. I’ve also had pins and needles in my hand but this could be related to long term nerve pain after cervical rib removal.

the shoulder pain however isn’t related (I don’t think) to the nerve pain from cervical rib removal as it started 2 years after that op. The physio has referred me to Orthapedics. At times I have the sensation I’m going to lose feeling in my arm and any movement, mostly moving my arm downwards is so painful. I can’t sleep on that side and the pain is constant.

has anyone had anything similar. I’d be grateful if you could share your views.

thank you

My rotator cuff injury mostly showed up in inability to do up my bra, rotate my arm (unsurprisingly) or weightbear on that arm (eg couldn’t do planks). My bicep tendon also tore. I had it operated on, big repair, several months recovery and good as new now.

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime
thank you for your reply.
how did you get it diagnosed? Was it an MRI?
I was struggling today to even lift a bottle of water to drink. Being right handed and with this my right shoulder makes things difficult.
I used to do Planks, couldn’t imagine that now, maybe one day 🙈
thats great you’re okay now, gives me some hope 😊 x

My right rotator cuff gave me pain when I held my bent arm out, then rotated it towards my left side. The pain was in my upper arm, not the shoulder.
I had an ultrasound scan to diagnose, then it just took time to heal. No operation was needed.

Ultrasound then mri. The whole process took ages, slow progression with me assuming it would get better, then physio, then an ultrasound guided steroid jab, then finally mri and recommendation for surgery.

I had this for a long time and used to work around the pain. Suffered for a long time but I’ve just realised reading this post that it’s gone!
