Life making me ill - what can I do?

Years ago Iworked nights but had to stop as it was causing hbp and high blood sugar.

Recently I moved miles from work (for good reasons) and now I have to get up at 5am and get home at 5pm. If I'm to get 8h sleep I need to be asleep by 9pm. I go to bed and often don't fall asleep until 11 or 12. I often have poor sleep, waking for the loo or snoring and not breathing well. My BP is over 180 and has been since Xmas. GP is just giving me more and more tablets. I have constant fluttering in my stomach, headaches and palpitations. On my days off I often fall asleep in the day which is not like me. I think the poor sleep is causing all this. I'm already resentful that I only get 3h a day to do anything other than work or sleep. Once I've done housework, cooking, shopping etc I have hardly any me time. I'm in my 50s and need to find a way out of this cycle. Would a sleep clinic help? Are they available on nhs?
I have tried getting a job closer, or wfh but sadly I'm too old for those in my field. Especially as I'm not at a senior level. I can't afford to retire yet.
I feel helpless, stuck in a hamster wheel. Hoping you guys have some ideas about how to change this work-sleep cycle or what medical help I could ask for

@doyouwanticewiththat

Thank you for asking. My GP sent me to cardiology for tests. I've had chest x-ray, heart echo, heart CT and in Nov I'm getting a 24h ecg.

Last week I had a mild stroke. Whole right side very week. 3 days in hospital - brain scan, bloods, mri scan, 15mins with a physio then sent home with some statins and 300mg aspirin daily. They weren't 100% sure it was a stroke but treated me as if it was.

Phoned GP when I got home and spoke to the duty Dr. She just about stopped herself from saying 'what do you want from us?'. The stroke consultant said I should have a 2nd type of blood pressure medication. She was annoyed that the consultant hadn't given me some. My blood pressure remains over 195. I've had a stroke. I've been left without any idea what to do now. I've signed myself off work but I think that only lasts 7 days? I have no follow up appointment with the stroke clinic and my own GP didn't suggest I go in to see them. I haven't been told the results of any of the tests I've had since July. I feel a bit lost and abandoned tbh.

Hi, sorry you are having such a hard time and that you had a stroke! I am an HCP- take your discharge letter to your GP which talks about the blood pressure medication and ask that they follow their advice. If you haven't got the letter, you can get a copy from the consultants secretary for the ward that you were on or even from the emergency department if you were there. Your GP should've been sent the documentation anyway it sounds like you might need to be a bit more assertive with them and ask for a second opinion and that you're not happy!

Sorry, just saw that you were there for three days, so your ward clerk from the ward you were admitted to will have a discharge letter. Just give them a call and see if they can send you a copy on email.

Thanks @doyouwanticewiththat my GP prescribed a different type of tablet but she wasn't happy about it. She said the practice won't be able to see me until they get the letter but I've no way of knowing when they'll receive it. I will ring the consultant PA on Monday and my GP.

My BP is around 170 now so hopefully the tablets are working. I do wonder why my GP didn't intervene earlier when my BP wasn't going down. I have a lot of faith in the consultant I saw thankfully. I was surprised not to be given a follow-up appointment though, even just to get the results
