Amlodipine and sweating?

BarristerBuff · 29/07/2023 04:24

Hi, I’ve been on Amlodipine for nearly a month and am finding that I’m extremely hot and sweaty most of the time.
I’m menopausal and have problems with overheating anyway but a few trips to the acupuncturist would usually sort it out- not this time!
Has anyone found themselves sweating and overheating when taking Amlodipine? Would be grateful for any replies. TIA

I've been taking amlopidine for nearly two months now and have not found I'm sweating more as a result. Am well past menopause but overheating and resultant sweating is something I've always experienced. It has been very humid recently, perhaps that's making the problem worse?

Anyone?

thanks for the reply @Walkinginthesand

Yes, it made me feel like I a had a fever all the time, it was hideous. I changed to a different med.

It's really common to have to try a few meds before you find one that suits so go back to the GP.

Been on it for years I didn't notice.

No - but the nightmares were dreadful

You lost me at, usually acupuncture cures it. Why would sticking needles in to you skin hell with sweating?

Acupuncture for hot flushes is fantastic. You can get acupuncture on the NHS .

thanks @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor it usually works a treat for me! I’ll speak to my GP and look into another medication.

Yes .I am so glad I have found this thread. The pharmacist at my gp has told me to switch to taking losartan and amlodopine at night ( I take levothyroxine in the morning)
It has been a nightmare hot sweats and palpitations and headache. Not sure why taking it at night is so much worse
