Mark on breast - what is it? Picture included

So a few weeks ago I noticed this mark appear on my left breast. No pain, no lump, it just feels slightly smoother than the rest of my skin. This morning I noticed a bunch of other marks on my torso while I was in the shower. (Second pic). husband says breast one has got larger.
called dr to arrange to get it checked out. Receptionist told me to get pharmacy to look at them. The pharmacist was very uncomfortable (as was I to be honest) and he all but refused to look at the one on my breast. He did look at the others but they had gone down a lot.
so now I don’t know if it’s something I need to get checked out as nobody else seems that bothered, hence me coming to strangers on the internet to see if anyone has any ideas.

I also initially thought ring worm but iirc that doesn't sprout up all over so quickly

Another vote for pityriasis rosea- the bigger spot on your boob is what I had near my belly button. Though it was some irritation from my jeans button. Then a week or 2 later broke out in spots all over torso like yours.

But I've never had ringworm and I'm no doctor!

If it's PR there's no treatment, it's not dangerous and it goes away fairly quickly. I thought I had the plague or something but it was fine.

I get similar in the summer. It always disappears again :).

I had pityriasis rosea in my 30s, I can't remember being ill beforehand, it just appeared, first the large one then smaller rashy bits on my torso, you just have to wait for it to go, mine lasted a month or two.

I would definitely see a doctor though OP because if it is ringworm you need some cream for it, though I had a bit of ringworm once but quite small on my hand and I use athletes foot cream on it and it went but it was only a small bit.

Yes I have this a couple of years ago mildly and ds had it quite badly. I didn't have any other symptoms, he had a cold.

Mine was really bad it started on my chest but ended up covering my whole body almost. It was also incredibly itchy but apparently often isn't itchy at all. Lasted about 10 weeks. I didn't obviously have a virus but had just had a vaccine so it might have been my body just kicking off a bit.

Ikeameatballlunch · 28/07/2023 17:42

Ouch!

No mine didn't itch. Just hung around for aaaggggees.

I had pityriasis rosea in pregnancy and was TERRIFIED because it's associated with miscarriage (and I'd already had three).

It took a few weeks to go but did eventually, just very itchy. Try washing in original Head and Shoulders like a shower gel. Can't remember where I read that tip but it really helped.

I went to another pharmacy and he was happy to have a look, but just showed him those photos in the end. He said it was ringworm and has given me some Daktarin so I’ll see how it reacts to that and will look at other suggestions if it doesn’t vanish.

I hope the Daktarin works (and I'm so curious as to whether it's ringworm or PR or something else entirely)

Let us know and hope it goes away soon. 🤗

Quire glad you have the torso ones. I was initially straight to an inflammatory breast cancer change, which needs immediate investigation. Slightly odd that the breast is bigger, though.

Don’t linger on the Daktarin too long, straight to the GP if it doesn't improve.

I think OP meant the mark had got larger not the breast

It's definitely pityriasis rosea. Classic herald patch, classic area to have it.

Papergirl1968 · 30/07/2023 22:25

No idea what it is, sorry, but I'm a GP receptionist and we are being put under increasing pressure to "signpost" patients to services such as pharmacies for minor ailments. We now have to complete a form electronically after every call showing whether we've diverted a patient to a pharmacy, optician, 111 or whatever.
I've been to a pharmacist myself for antibiotics for a urine infection when I couldn't get to the GP, which was great, but I wouldn't have been comfortable showing a pharmacist my boobs.

pityriasis rosea - viral rash

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I’ve really enjoyed looking through them all and find some right up my street!
