Dear All, my lo is nearly 16 months. Over the last 4 days she has been having very soft stools and alot of (bursting out of nappy). She has gone off her food (become really picky and eats a quarter of what she would do normally). SHe is also really niggly and screams alot. If this is a bug (if you have any other ideas what it could be please advise) what is the best to do for her. She has a doctors appointment later but I really don;t trust our doctors as I took her last year as she was not well and they basically said common cold, a week later she is was in hospital for a week with a really bad virus that had caused her to have an anaphalactic Shock)

Definitely get a new doctor. I wouldn't bother going back to them if you don't trust them anymore (I think you call the NHS to get other doctors available in your area. I imagine toddlers will get priority and if not insist on a paediatrician). My daughter goes off food and gets nappy rash when teething - I know its tiresome but it can be very hard on them. Try soft foods - mash, ice cream! etc. Best of luck hope she feels better soon.

he was crying alot, stopped eating, nappys were diff, just sat around watching tele (he's v active normally) just wasnt 'right'. His temperature was up and down aswell tho. They did a dip test and it was fine but they also sent it off to be cultivated (?) and it came back a few days later with an infection so he had anti biotics. If you are concerned, get them to test wee, and if it ok ask them to send it off to be sure. They cant afford to miss wee infections in young children i was told

I've got a 14mth ds with same squishy stools, lack of appetite, some vomiting. He's refushing rehydration sachets and I'm having to take the approach that they would only make his dehyration worse, because he has always(since weaning) just puked up anything he didn't like food, drink and med wise along with anything else in his stomach. DH stayed home with him yesterday and as our dr refused to see him (cos of his symptoms he had a phone consultation) I'm to contact gp if he gets worse/doesn't get better.[end of tether]
I think it is a bug, but the symptoms you list warrant medical attention(ie doctor) but it's prob limited what thay can suggest. plain food, rehydration, calpol, etc

Thanks for all your messages, I think with her being so poorly and nearly losing her in December I just panick a bit. She is normally such a happy little girl but at the moment she is so grumpy and does nothing by winge (very draining). I will take her to docs later and see what they say.
