Ongoing nausea - anyone else? Why?

I've had ongoing nausea since around Easter 2022, similar to pregnancy - sometimes I throw up, mostly I just retch (sorry if TMI). It started along with other post covid symptoms. It is constant, but peaks at varying times in the day - only triggers I've seen are on exertion, rushing or if breathless. I have signs of peri menopause too. Eating dry food stems the nausea slightly, but this, with being unable to even walk at a normal pace is causing weight gain. Even if I yawn I feel myself gagging. I haven't been to dentist for same reason. It abated a lot for about six weeks a couple of months ago but is back with a vengeance - no idea why.

I'd assumed it was part of my long covid symptoms, but recently long covid clinic said it's not a symptom. GP says it's not associated with menopause. Google says can be symptoms of either. So wise women of mumsnet, has anyone else had this? What helped? Any advice for a desperate woman?!

I’m wondering about reflux due to the fast breathing 🤔

Have you had blood tests? I was having a lot of nausea and had low vitamin D, a high dose otc spray seems to have solved it.

Probably no help, but just in case. I had a problem with retching for a few years, especially in the cold air. Tried inhalers etc. I gave up white wine for dry Jan and my problems vanished overnight. Think it was something that irritated me - I only drink red now and it has never come back! Also, have you considered gallstones? Nausea can be a symptom before pain.

I had ongoing nausea after Covid and also after a bout of vertigo.
I am on betahistine tablets to help with the nausea/dizziness but my dr thinks it's just one of the many symptoms I have of perimenopause

I can really gag and feel very nauseous if I drink coffee on an empty stomach. Like many others my morning coffee on waking was the best part of my day!, Not anymore since I discovered it was causing the nausea, but only when I drank it on an empty stomach. That worked.

I can drink coffee fine once I've eaten something.

I had Helicobacter Pylori a couple of years ago and that caused nausea too. Have you been tested? It is easily treated. Can cause gagging, globus (lump in the throat sensation), nausea and pain, although I had no pain. I take PPI (like Nexium) every day for the foreseeable now.

None of the above my apply to you, but I just thought I'd mention it anyway. Good luck.

If you have long covid, there's a high chance you could have some form of dysautonomia which is basically what long covid is. Nausea is one of the main symptoms. I go through bouts of suffering myself. Horrible!

Could it be linked to any medication you take?

Have you tried taking omeprazole?
