I always found that Sudocrem worked really well on my DS's nappy rash. Kamilosan is pretty good too, but Sudocrem worked the fastest. It's horrible when they scream so loud because their little bottom's are so sore, isn't it?

A friend of mine took her DD to a homeopath as she was always getting ear infections and colds and her immune system didn't seem to be able to cope very well. Turns out she had had german measles (picked up in a swimming pool) at 6 months and never really got over it. The homeopath treated her holistically and she is a different child - no more coughs and colds or ear infections and much happier.

Would suggest you talk to your GP first before going to a homeopath (if he/she is sympaythetic). If not try your health visitor.

Good luck!

metanium...

I've had great results using homeopathy with my DD, not for nappy rash but for a coughing/vomiting problem. I find that GP's are usually pretty sceptical about it. If you ask around in your area you might find one who is particularly recommended. Good luck

metanium definitely - you can buy it over the counter at boots.

Kittypickle · 13/12/2004 19:55

Yes, definitely Metanium !

WhizzzYouAMerryXmas · 13/12/2004 20:04

Another vote for Metanium - just don't get it on your clothes or carpet !

popsycal · 13/12/2004 20:05

buy it off the shelf at tesco

does anyone know if this is suitable for broken skin. her toosh is all spots etc and bleeds when she has a dirty nappy. creams seem to work when she only a wet nappy but as soon as the nappy is dirty, the bleeding starts again. she's crying out in pain. i heard that salavia is acidic when teething so i thought that there might be something to combat this.

could be a fungal infection .. canesten cream works on babies .. get it over the counter .. apply a very thin layer then cover in sudocrem or other barrier cream

try to keep nappy off as much as possible

poor wee thing

blossomgoodwill · 13/12/2004 22:07

mumofelise - really think that if it's that bad you should try the gp. It's not worth taking the risk with homeopathic. I always went to the gp if there nappy rash really flared up as I knew that the cream would always work. Vaseline is a great barrier cream to prevent anymore soreness
Still see a homeopathic for future problems or preventative but ask the gp for something to clear it up now for dd!

mumofelise · 13/12/2004 22:15

thanks everyone
have been to gp but with doctor on mat leave and sick leave! never see the same doctor twice. last doctor gave me cream for a minor skin irration on her leg which ended up burning her baby skin. i am trying latest cream from the doctors but am becoming desperate.

Oh poor you elise. You just want to help dd, well try metanium for a week and if still no improvement then see a homeopath. Good luck and really hope it goes away soon. I know how awful nappy rash can be!
