Sea sickness - best remedies

Help! I suffer badly from seasickness and stupidly agreed to a holiday to France via an eight hour ferry! 🤢

I thought we were going Dover to Calais but we are actually going Portsmouth to St Malo.

The weather isn't looking great with 45mph winds forecast so definitely not likely to be a millpond.

Knowing that I'm highly like to sick for the whole journey so what remedies would you recommend? And do they actually work?

Please don't suggest a bottle of wine to knock me out like a friend did because I have to be able to drive when we get off.

Tia 🤢

Oh no!!. I also suffer terribly and took Sealegs on a cruise. Through trial and error I found taking them before boarding, during the sail AND when I got off the best. I think its taken every 6 hours so on an 8 hour crossing you wont have to take many!. I found I still had 'sea legs wobble' when I got off but the time I kept taking the tablet I didnt have that feeling. Good luck !

Ive just checked and realised that I took Sea Legs on one trip .... the tablets last 24 hours, and Stugeron on another trip. Take 2 hours before travel and every 6 hours. So I got slightly confused!!!

I have to say from memory my 2nd trip was better so maybe go for Stugeron - and keep taking them the day you get off the ferry.

I second stugeron - I find them very effective.

Portsmouth to St Malo is usually a 12 hour overnight sailing isn’t it?

You'll be asleep in your bunk for most of it but I found sucking a mint great if I was ever a bit queasy.

Stugeron. Available over the counter, no prescription required.
Take two tablets at least an hour before getting on the boat. Take one tablet eight hours after the first loading dose.
It contains cinnarazine which is highly effective. I use it myself for coach travel, cruising, and attacks of labyrinthitis.
It can make you slightly drowsy, so best not to drive after taking it.

I find Kwells work really well.

either go straight into bed or stay outside on deck watching the horizon.

have a good meal before you go on. and take biscuits to nibble.
