Driving after a local anaesthetic

I have a procedure coming up at a not terribly local hospital which requires a local anaesthetic and they have told me that I definitely should not drive to/from the appointment. I've had to fill in a form confirming that I will get a taxi (about £30 each way I would think) or a lift, along with who will be providing it (there is no one who can do this at the time of the appointment as it's during the working day).

However, this will be the 4th or 5th time I have had this procedure on various parts of my body and I've never been told not to drive before or had to fill in any such form. Are the hospital just being cautious (the other procedures have mainly been carried out elsewhere) or should I really not be driving?

The procedure is on my back if that makes a difference....

depends what the procedure is. Also, if the other procedures have been done somewhere else, it's perhaps worth clarifying what the difference is between what they did and what the current place do.
