Have started using it on the gym-very strange.

they seem to be very popular in my gym. I tried it once and hated it - it made my ears buzz

orangina · 26/02/2008 09:44

Don't do it with a coil in..... unless you don't mind getting pg....

brimfull · 26/02/2008 09:48

orangina

i went and did an induction session in my gym... the trainer who was in charge was an ARSE, first he looked straight at my tum, and said "are you pregnant?"
(I have a small gut, hence the desire to have it wobbled off on the power plate, but nothing outrageous). I said no, I wasn't pregnant (slightly peeved). He then looked at me again and said "are you SURE you're not pregnant?"

Yes, I said, quite sure. Bad start. Anyway, after demonstrating again that he lacking really any customer service skills (by asking me yet AGAIN, and saying in a loud voice in the reception area "IT'S JUST THAT YOU CAN'T USE THE MACHINES IF YOU ARE PREGNANT....."), we finally started. 5 minutes into the very wierd vibrationy experience, he said, "Oh, by the way, there are a load of other disclaimers I should have run through with you... like you shouldn't use it if you are epileptic, have a pacemaker, have an iud...."

Ahem.

Had to go back to consultant to get the bloody thing checked out (it is fine btw).

orangina · 26/02/2008 09:51

My consultant said it probably wouldn't matter, but it depends if you feel like playing russian roulette with that kind of thing (frankly, with such a wierd vibration thing going on, I can completely see how it might wobble out of position.....). I absolutely do NOT want to get pregnant, so will have to go back to trying to get rid of my gut the long traditional way!

omg, YES! I put in a complaint about him, and the next time I was in the (actual) gym, I saw him busy wiping everyone's sweat off the machines (I hoped it was a demotion, !)

brimfull · 26/02/2008 09:53

new machine in our gym like a treadmill but all wobbly as if walking on waves.
Apparently it burns of twice as many calories as treadmill.

Sounds safer, will have to check out ours... does it sort of have 2 treadmills, one for each foot?

brimfull · 26/02/2008 10:07

yes that's the one

have you tried it?

Both being used yesterday so I didn't have a go.

embarassingly bumped into client at gym a few weeks ago who was on that machine... after initial pleasantries (and mental note from me not to stand on machine in front for bum wobbling view), he managed to puff at me that the machine really burned more calories than any of the others.

(Note to self: avoid gym at lunch time)

Will try it next visit. Am horribly unfit through, so may not last long on it...
