Piles… embarrassing

I know it’s a common problem but I’ve had piles for several years. I’m regular and eat lots of fibre, not overweight and don’t need to strain when I go. The issue got bad 5 years ago during a bad pregnancy, I was very sick and had the runs several times a day, everyday, for 3 months and this exacerbated the problem. I lost the baby at 16 weeks and was induced. Afterwards I was trying to cope with stress and ongoing infertility that I ignored the piles. They are inside not on the outside (tmi)

Saw the GP a couple of weeks ago as I had pain and bleeding, got some steroid medication which helped. It’s not painful or bleeding now but I still have a prolapsed haemorrhoid when I poo which needs pushing back in after. (Sorry tmi 😳) I explained this to the GP and she said that’s a very common problem, I just need to live with it and manage with better diet.

As it seems it’s not something treated by the NHS I requested a referral letter to have it looked at privately. I’m scared about surgery and wondered if anyone else has been through similar, does banding or injections work? Or should I just leave it as the GP suggests? I don’t really want leave it in case it gets worse. It’s embarrassing but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
