You wise lot, can't relax this am since I sent my dd to school. She practically begged me to go so we ummed and ahhed for a while and I made her promise to tell the teacher if she wants to come home. She was off yesterday. She has the most amazing amount of snot,it's choking her too and she is blowing her nose evry minute.Should I make a doctors app,I feel this has been going on a while now.She has a bit of a cough too.But seems lively enough you see. Will they even be able to do anything about it anyway.Does this sound familiar to anyone? It is a bit green too. What would you do?

My doctor thinks green snot means an infection of the upper respiratory tract. He would give her antibiotics; personally I'm not keen. My Ds has had this in the past and it cleared without Abs. I remember when we were little they gave us nosedrops, but have heard since that they damage the nasal lining (and gave you a dry throat). Hope she gets better soon.

Thanks Clucks and Robinw,I'll try your suggestions.Does goats milk taste quite different though? I took her to the doctors in the end as she said her ear hurt. The doctor said she had a bug and anti biotics wouldn't work. She didn't have a chest infection or an ear one. She's still suffering with cattarh. And has a sore throat.Good job boots have a three for two offer on tissues,we're cleaning them out at the moment. Thanks for the good wishes.

I can vouch for the mucous-reducing effect of cutting out (or cutting down even) cow's milk and dairy products in general - my dp used to have terrible sinus problems, always sounded like he had a cold, along with snoring and apnoea - these symptoms have cleared since he stopped drinking milk and milkshakes about 6 weeks ago!

All the staff at the playcentre I take DS to are paranoid about giving the children bananas without permission from the parent because of the fruit's supposed mucus producing qualities. Never found they affect my DS but if your DD is still eating them it might be worth a try cutting them out.
