Mold Spores

Hi, please can someone advise. I have 2 Xmas trees and Xmas things stored in cardboard boxes and bits in a big carrier bag. The room they are stored in I've noticed have very bad black mold in them.
Will these trees in their boxes and the things in carrier bag now be contaminated with mold spores or will they be ok? Am I going to have to throw everything away?? Am I able to treat the items with something?
I'm going to be really gutted throwing away my tree that my babies have opened all their Xmas presents under 😔

I’d just move the items over to clean new boxes, ideally plastic so wipeable, and carry on using them.

Hi @Talipesmum thank you for replying. I've bought new boxes off amazon today so I will definitely transfer them into clean ones. I just didn't know if the mold could have got onto the tree or the kids Xmas stockings and would have had to bin them.
I've even gone as far as thinking I could put the trees up outside and spray them with something before putting them into the new boxes. But with what I dont know.

See how they look. Leave the tree etc outside in the fresh air for a day, dust it down. I wouldn’t get too panicky about it. A few mold spores aren’t the end of the world if there are a few around - if everything smells really bad and mouldy after you’ve left it to air, then maybe think again. But I’d be quite relaxed.

@Talipesmum I've had a peak and the trees themselves look fine but the boxes are a bit damp. I've read sunlight is good for killing mold so I deffo think I'll leave everything outside for the day... When we get our sun back!
Thanks for the reassurance, I was in a bit of an upset flap when I saw the mold this afternoon.

If it was me- I'd put a mask on, and ideally some old clothes you can wash afterwards. Take the boxes as they are outside and open them there. Mould spores can be so small- that you may not see them on/inside the boxes.

Anything that is plastic and could be hosed down- I would. At the very least, I'd leave things outside in the wind/sunshine so the mould can ideally blow away.

There is also that cillitbang mould killer spray. IF you use it though on non-washable things, test it on a small area first and use gloves. I'm sure its basically bleach, so might take the colour out!

Yes some good info there @CC4712 thank you! that's why I've left them where they are for now and not disturbed them untill I can get them all outside.
I'm glad I won't have to throw them away, at least I have some sort of plan and info now. Will definitely look into mould killer spray too.
Thank you both.
